As for the MOTS7, I love that album. It’s different, dark, but beautiful. I view it as a true artist evolution in their catalog. I expect BE to be yet another curve in the road we didn’t anticipate. I also expect it to be massively successful, and rightly so. This week there has been an ARMY focus on the reissue of Skool Luv Affair & it’s been such a fun trip down memory lane, they have come SO far
Agreed. It’s my favorite album so far. I vibe more with their LY and MotS series than their older stuff. I know that’s unpopular among the older part of the fandom. I really loved MotS. I actually really found it cohesive in overarching narative grounded in the intro , interlude and outro. Also I don’t know if sonical cohesion will ever be possible with BTS when each member likes a different style of music. You’ll get different sounding songs and styles from Taehyung JK or Jin. Sure it;s not a full narative that they are telling but for me it reads like a journal where they document their experiences and thoughts starting with the question who am I? going through the journey , getting drunk on the art ( Dyonisus) then getting into a dark phase with Shadow and Black Swan , continuing that with Filter and My Time Louder than Bombs.
I do agree maybe the placement of Ugh and On is weird but idk where ON could have fit other than at the end and that wouldn’t have worked cause it’s the title track.
Then we move on to Zero o Clock, Inner Child, Friends, Moon, Respect which are more hopeful songs with a good message signaling that things are getting better and then it end with WABTE and Ego on a good note. Sometimes I wish that WABTE was the closer since it would end the whole story on that note but then Ego couldn’t be the outro .October 19, 2020 at 6:33 am #1203787973
also thanks for making this thread. If there are other armys on this forum I’d love to discuss BE, Dynamite or BTS in general here. I can’t wait for BH to start the promo for BE . Also for them to drop the presales for the standard version of BE, I can’t afford the deluxe one
yes i am waiting for the standard edition too…really hoping we achieve that 7million ww goalOctober 19, 2020 at 7:39 am #1203788037
Love this thread! It’s amazing how BTS has been incursing itself into western pop spaces and, despite it being a bumpy road with a lot of prejudice and vitriol, I love that armys never shy away from speaking about them and their art. Thank you for making this thread, Jelly!
About BE I think it will be their least “promotional” album in years. I predict we’re gonna get just two versions of the standard edition. I also agree YouTube goals don’t matter much this time we already have the record and Spotify and Apple Music should be the priority. They like to feel people are listening to the music, Jimin even asked for all songs to chart so I wish armys would focus on that. I think we won’t get any solos, just subunits (and currently believing the Twitter predictions of TaeKook, JinGiMin and NamSeok). But I do think aritan is a hoax.
I expect 600k-700k opening in the US, but I don’t think we’ll be too great with our spotify numbers, sadly. But I do have faith in our buying power so I’m sure we can manage at least #2 at hot100, hopefully #1 if Adele doesn’t come out with a monster hit. They really deserve a Korean self-written #1. But sadly I don’t think a Korean song will be as embraced in the US, or promoted tbh, as Dynamite was, no matter how we feel about it. It’s gonna rely a lot more on armys.
I am very excited for the artistic direction of this album and the BTS-esque sound. Also expecting more rap but it will be interesting to see what they come up with, specially lyric wise. And praying for a Yoongi produced TT. I think it will be a melancholic but hopeful album which is something they do quite wellOctober 19, 2020 at 7:53 am #1203788074
Cause I wanted to ask , do y’all think that Taehyung’s mixtape will come out this year or not? I was sure it would when BE was rumored to drop in October but now idk if it’ll come in December. It might be too close to the BE promotions
I hope he releases it next year and I think it’s more likely he does. I’m expecting BE’s promotions to run for at least three to four weeks and they also have award shows and year-end gayos to attend up until the start of 2021 and I want KTH1 to get the full attention, love and appreciation it deserves. There’s a possibility he releases it on his birthday, though, I wouldn’t be surprised even if it’s not what I would want him to do. But I hope whenever it comes, KTH1 is successful. Wish we could get a physical release, I would buy a copy for sureOctober 19, 2020 at 8:05 am #1203788116

I just hope he quits it with the autotune. I know he likes to use it for effect but it’s not my favorite. The boys can sing, I just want to hear their voices please.October 19, 2020 at 8:38 am #1203788242
Also, I’m glad you guys are enjoying this thread. I’ve been wanting to make it for a while. <3
And if there are any lurkers reading this, please don’t be afraid to comment. I don’t bite (unless you’re made of jelly). This is a space where you can talk about BTS freely. 🙂October 19, 2020 at 8:50 am #1203788280
Their older albums were my favorite because I’m more of an R&B and Hip Hop type of person. Plus, those are the genres they excel in and obviously love.
They look good in the comeback photo. I love that they all have dark hair because they look their best with dark hair.October 19, 2020 at 8:57 am #1203788297This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.October 19, 2020 at 8:59 am #1203788299
BE concept photo
I’m loving the aesthetic of this concept, thank you visual manager Kim Taehyung. I have seen many interpretations and I’m hoping for the BTS band to be a real thing since they are with the instruments in the picture. The semi formal clothes seem to allude to their two sides as their real selves they want to show more and the stars we came to know, or maybe the “work from home” current situation since this is a quarantine album. Really excited to see what comes of this album. It does seem more mature and personal judging by the pictureOctober 19, 2020 at 9:00 am #1203788301
On a note other the BE, anyone other than me still upset we didn’t get a performance of Louder Than Bombs?
I’m going to go cry in the corner real quick…October 19, 2020 at 9:07 am #1203788309This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.October 19, 2020 at 9:28 am #1203788339
AND YES JELLY, IM BETRAYED THEY DIDNT PERFORMED IT ON THE ON:E CONCEPT. CANT BELIEVE THEY SENT LTB TO THE DUNGEON WITH PARADISE.
I actually paid for the concert and watched it three times and all three times I blinked when Jimin’s wardrobe change happened.October 19, 2020 at 10:11 am #1203788426
Please, Moving On is so good! And another one of thsir forgotten gems. Since they mentioned it recently I hope it was a hint.
I’m sad about LTB too, but tbh I expected it, BTS loves ignoring army’s faves for some reason, Home is just recently getting justice. My dream is we get a special concert setlist that includes their rare and unperformed songs like Outro: Do you think it makes sense?, Moving On, Outro: Her, You Never Walk Alone, Path, Pied Piper, Paradise, 134340 and now LTBOctober 19, 2020 at 10:24 am #1203788452
The thing about MOTS7 that I think makes it difficult for some to connect to is how personal the album is. It is actually really cohesive but split into 3 distinct parts: the persona, the shadow & the ego. Persona, tracks Intro Persona thru Dionysis are about ARMY & their relationship to ARMY. From their love for us (think of Halsey in Boy W/ Luv AS ARMY), how we have lifted them to such great heights & grown w/ them to their breakdown of innocence & the obvious darkness in the world they must constantly confront. That temptation & world they live in that can corrupt, maturity arrives – Dionysus. We cross into the shadow w/ Interlude Shadow through Louder Than Bombs. This is the part of the journey that explores the dark side of one’s identity w/ ON explaining that to truly grow spiritually we must accept that our space in time comes w/ significant darkness & pain. Bringing the pain shows they now have the strength to accept all parts of themselves in their journey, the brightness & love of ARMY within the persona & the darkness & pain of the shadow. Tracks UGH through Outro Ego are the sum of all the parts. When we can put them together, gain our own personal sense of identity, our ego comes to light, we live within it’s confines and it is who we are. The true bridge from shadow to ego though are the tracks My Time & Zero O Clock. This is of course Jungkook’s personal journey of living a life where his adolescence was compromised and his time to experience so many things a young person leading a normal life already has, has not yet arrived. Zero O’Clock IS that time to look forward for him. A reset. He sees his chance to catch up with his peers & others in this world and step out of his own personal conflict, his lonely existence within his own lonely space & time. It’s a really beautiful journey of their life to now. What a musical gift!
The ON:E shows, SO GOOD! Sad the MOTS7 era is all but over. This pandemic ROBBED us.
Yikes, I know this is long. Sorry. The BE era is here ya’ll! SO EXCITED!
