This album is currently @ #1 and #10 on iTunes and #6 on Amazon. The album sits at a 76 on Metacritic so far. J. Cole also has the Shawn Carter machine backing him. Do not be surprised if J. Cole sees Best New Artist and Best Rap Album nominations.

BEYONCÉ CONGRATULATES J. COLE ON NO. 1 DEBUT

Congratulations were in order for J. Cole after his album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard. The calls and texts poured in, from his mentor Jay-Z, to his manager Mark Pitts, and even Beyoncé.

Fresh off a flight from Cleveland, the Roc Nation rapper called in to Angie Martinez’ radio show on Hot 97 to react to the news that Cole World: The Sideline Story had sold 218,000 copies in its first week. “I actually woke up today from the plane ride and had the most texts I’ve ever had in my life,” said an exhausted Cole.

He was recovering from a long night of performing and partying. “We celebrated last night because it happened to be the birthday of my homeboy that plays keys for me. It was like a No. 1/birthday celebration.”

The icing on the cake was an email from the Queen B herself. “I got the Jay-Z call, got the Mark Pitts congratulations conversation, got the Beyoncé congratulations email. That was a good look,” he told Angie.

Cole had nothing but positive things to say about his boss’ wife. “She’s the best, man. She’s the nicest lady. For real, it’s unbelievable.”

The celebration will continue tonight when Cole performs on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Just bought the album and it’s PURE FIRE! This is one of the best Rap Debuts in a long time. I really hope he gets into Rap Album and Best New Artist.

    My favorite tracks are:

    Dollar And A Dream III

    Lights Please

    Breakdown

    Nobody’s Perfect(This has to be a single)

    In The Morning

    Cant Get Enough

    Rise And Shine

This is definitley better than that trash that Lil Wayne put out.

    Well done, Cole.

Fav Tracks: Dollar & a Dream II, Breakdown, Never Told, Nobody’s Perfect (didn’t know that was Missy).

I just hope he doesn’t go like Drake and keep rapping about the same ish. I don’t want to hear about making it, struggling, and girls all the time.

    Solid album. 90/100

His BNA nomination isn’t shocking to me at all. His shocking 200k+ opening mixed with the factor he produced most of his album by himself + Jay-Z backing = Grammy bait. I’m disappointed he didn’t get a Rap Album nomination, though.

Well deserved both him and Nicki. Would’ve nominated him over the horrid Lil Wayne album however.

    Agreed x 1,000,000.

However, it was very cool just to see him nominated for BNA. I hope he pulls an upset here and takes it.

I totally agree with you here, absolutely. ‘Pink Friday’ and ‘Watch The Throne’ are fun, but there’s no denying that ‘Cole World’ kills them (don’t even get me started on ‘Tha Carter IV’). I’m hoping he can pull an upset and win BNA.
