Chromatica is cute. It’s fun, colorful, and very energetic. However, lyrically it’s not as strong as Joanne or ASIB. If Gaga had meshed the personal song writing of those albums with this return to Dance/Pop, she may have had her own version of Ray of Light. The best song is by far “911”. The worst is “Sine From Above”. It’s a hot mess lol Overall I’d give the album 3/5 stars. A lot of people would compare it to Artpop. But honestly that record was a little better. Even with horrible tracks like “Jewels N Drugs”. Chromatica is great for the moment. The gays will eat it up. But in the long run, I don’t think its an album that will stand the test of time.

Sine From Above is a hot mess? That’s a great song there. If there was still Pop Duo With Vocals, it would have been a great contender.

    FYC:

Chromatica: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album.

Rain On Me: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Music Video.

    Alice: Best Pop Solo Performance

“My Real name isn’t Alice”… I love how Gaga sings that line. I love GAGA.

Gaga, if you’re reading this, know there’s someone somewhere who loves you with his whole heart.

Sine from Above is awesome. I like this album, there are a few awesome songs but I think the production should be more polished overall but that is Bloodpop’s fault. Overall it’s a 7/10 from me but there are quite a few very high moments. Definitely deserves an AOTY.

I adore Gaga. I remember the very first time I listened to Bad Romance 10 years ago for the very first time and not only is Bad Romance still my favourite song of all time but after listening to it, it got me interested in music and the rest his history. So I’m sad that after all this time spending with her as an artist to be for the first time disappointed. This is her first album where not even one songs connect with me. The songs just sound like there out of any other pop record today unoriginal. When the only parts of music I liked on the album were the separate chromatica instrumentals where shes mor even singing that to me means shes done something very wrong. Its just upsetting because I am a fan and after the brilliance of the one two punch of Joanne and than A Star is Born to get this album. Even Artpop which was extremely, extremely messy still had its moments. I just hope I wont br disappointed again because I do love Gaga and shes one of my favourites of all time so here’s hoping this is just a fluke and next time around I’ll be happy.

I really didn’t expect the critics to like this album this much.

I kinda expect NYT to ruin the score though with some 40/100 review. They really don’t like Gaga for some reason.

Honey, these critics always have a boner for white girls and give them high Metacritic scores.  YUCK!

Critics have been very nice this year. The only album that got mixed reviews was Bieber and well not surprising, but almost all contenders have been above 80 this year.

    I’m waiting for pitchfork tho, probably a 7 – 7.5 and if they are nice a 8.

But I do like the album it’s not my favourite this year but has lots of bops. The transitions are my favourite part, and it can be looped I like that.

I think she should release another single coming august maybe a solo song so Stupid Love can be thrown away.

I think in the current atmosphere a lot more critics are willing to embrace pure, fun pop music. However, anything that’s not aggressively bad is pretty much guaranteed to get at least a 75 on Metacritic nowadays. The world of professional music criticism has changed a lot over the last several years. Today, I don’t really consider an album overall critically “acclaimed” unless it manages to land at least in the mid 80s.

Listen Idiot Awards Voters, give as many awards as you possibly can to these albums:

Fiona Apple- Fetch the Bolt Cutters
Perfume Genius- Set My Heart On Fire Immediately
Hiam- Women in Music Part lll
    Ka- Descendants of Cain
    Waxahatchee- Saint Cloud
Run the Jewels- Run the Jewels 4
