Here’s the first new song from this era:
“Bow Down” / “I Been On”
What do you guys think?March 18, 2013 at 9:32 am #388200
Seriously? This new song is HORRIBLE!!!! This sounds like a song that Nicki Minaj would write and record. I am very dissapointed in Beyonce. Crap like this is not going to get her on mainstream radio, or even R&B radio. I pray that radio ignores this song and teaches Beyonce a lesson that you can’t record trash and call it music.
Seriously, “Triumphet” by Mariah Carey is a better song than this. smhMarch 18, 2013 at 10:21 am #388201This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.March 18, 2013 at 11:00 am #388202
It’s not terrible at all. And I’m not even a Beyonce fan, but this song is hard and badass. People just want to hate everything the woman does.March 18, 2013 at 1:03 pm #388203

Hating has become the definition of going against whats popular. Hating is being negative and well….hateful. Its not hating, when you have an opinion and your opinion is you dont like something. This song is pure garbage. Beat wise its cool, but content wise its AWFUL. Beyonce is “suppose to be” one of the greatest out, a future icon and legend and this is what she comes up with? Its classless, tasteless, and just stupid. More is expected out of her. Whitney, Michael, Aretha, Stevie or anyone else who is “legendary” would NEVER make a song like this. HELL…I dont even think Madonna would. I am not even a big fan of Beyonce’s music (dont hate her either) and this is beneath her. She needs to show growth and make better music. She’s a 30 something year old wife and mother who is suppose to be evolving. “Diva” was in the same vein as this, BUT with taste and class. NO Beyonce…keep this and try again.March 18, 2013 at 1:21 pm #388204
I love Beyonce’s voice but this is completely awful. I can’t hear it again!!!March 18, 2013 at 1:39 pm #388205
My god this song sucks. Than again I’m already used to it, since most of her material does suck.March 18, 2013 at 1:52 pm #388206
this is the first time in a long time where i heard and couldn’t get through the entire thing. It started off ok but then went into Nicki Minaj territory and thats when I was like “no thanks”.March 18, 2013 at 5:05 pm #388207
Yeah, it’s terrible and it just seems so odd for Beyonce to do this. Sure, if she was getting a lot of bad press or in some kind of feud with someone then maybe this would make sense…but Beyonce spewing hate at other artists just seems so out of place. And when she says we all just think of her as “his wife”…who thinks Beyonce is just a “wife” now? No one has ever said that.
This just sounds like an interlude anyways, but it’s just so odd, and even odder that she would release this as a hype single.March 18, 2013 at 5:35 pm #388208
Obviously she’s just having fun. This isn’t a single.
I could actually see Bow Down being a #1 hit on Urban radio if the lyrics were different. The beat goes hard and this type of material is what’s hot right now on Urban radio. I’m surprised they didn’t come up with some better lyrics or song title for that production.March 18, 2013 at 7:41 pm #388209
I agree it’s so obviously not a single and so obviously not soemthing to be taken seriously. This talk of “content” is ridiculous. It’s just a boasting song. It doesn’t need to more than that, because (shocking revelation) different songs aim for different things!
Oh, and why should it matter that Stevie and Aretha would never do a song like this? beyonce is from a completely different generation, with a completely different cultural baggage, and with completely different intentions.
And “classless” really? You’re gonna throw the “taste” argument? Talk about conservative or narrow minded. This song is obviously not to be seen as “classy”. It’s supposed to be energetic, fun, have Beyonce be a bad ass. That’s all.March 18, 2013 at 8:39 pm #388210
This song is obviously not supposed to be taken seriously and was just released to give her fanbase a song while they wait for new material (exactly like “Cake Like Lady Gaga”). I would be surprised if “Bow Down” made it on the album at all. The beat of “I Been On” will probably be used on the album in some form being that she already used it in her Mrs. Carter Show promo video. I think it sounds awesome.
Lighten up y’all.March 18, 2013 at 8:47 pm #388211

“Not to be taken seriously” isn’t an excuse to be a terrible terrible song. Being frivoulous doesn’t negate quality. Not now
