The Justin Bieber/Mariah Carey duet on “All I Want For Xmas” is AFWUL.
I am not surprised because I think it’s an awful concept, but just out of curiosity how did you hear it already?October 27, 2011 at 7:22 pm #371702
That isn’t even a real duet. That’s basically Justin’s vocals added to Mariah’s “extra festive” version of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”October 27, 2011 at 10:39 pm #371703
OMG the First pic I have seen of Mariah’s babies!!!! They are sooo adorable!October 27, 2011 at 11:25 pm #371704
What a disappointment the new duet with(dare I say it?) Justin Bieber is…can’t wait for new Mariah music…My favourite song of hers to this day is “I Don’t Wanna Cry,” followed very closely by “Emotions” and “Someday” and everything else…haha!

I had very low expectations for the Justin Beiber and Mariah duet and it met them. It wasn’t hte complete trainwreck I expected, but Beiber definitely sounds like he’s straining and the little changes they made to the song definitely detract from the greatness of the track.
I do, however, like her duet with Tony Bennett on “Duets II.” I think it shows an interesting side to her vocally.November 3, 2011 at 4:49 pm #371706
I agree Bieber and Carey doing a duet was a bad idea to begin with. But despite whether we like him or not, for some reason or another, he has MAJOR respect in the industry. I mean, Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey don’t do a duet with just anyone !November 9, 2011 at 8:30 am #371707
Wow, Mariah has exploded back in the media in the last 24 hours. She showed off her new body (having lost 70 pounds) since the twin’s birth and has signed on to be the new face of Jenny Craig. I would rather she focused on music, but this is a smart way to stay in the media…
She even has a press conferece streaming live right now: http://www.jennycraig.com/jennylive
Bonus: She announced on Twitter that she is doing a remake/remix of “When Christmas Comes” (the best of the new tracks she recorded for Merry Christmas II You) with John Legend that will be released soon.November 9, 2011 at 9:20 am #371708
^ Nice! I think her pregnancy really limited the promotion for the Christmas album last year. There were so many potential singles and I think WCC is a good choice for this year. (Wow, I should probably change my handle to HerLamb, huh?)November 9, 2011 at 1:08 pm #371709
She really looks great and it is wonderful that she is keeping her name out there; supposedly she IS focusing on music and is working on her next album as we speak. And since “The X Factor” got renewed, I wonder if she will have any part of the show next season since she was suppose to be a judge but could not because of her pregnancy.December 28, 2011 at 11:38 am #371710This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.December 28, 2011 at 11:47 am #371711
Agree, I am looking forward to it a lot, but if it’s that generic Hip Hop crap, I am out FAST, I am not here for that mess. I am pulling for her and Christina this year.December 28, 2011 at 6:37 pm #371712
I, too, am majorly looking forward to new material and hope that it is a mature mix of singer-songwriter & classic sounding R&B rather than generic hip hop that might eke her out some more sales but not do anything for her artistically.
It was clearly another winning Christmas season for her. When final figures are released, “Merry Christmas” will have added about 100k in sales (up to about 5.22 million), which is huge for a 17-year-old album, and “Merry Christmas II You” will have added about 70k (up to about (505k, surpassing gold status). Also, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” became the first holiday track ever to reach 2 million downloads and the gap between the song and the #2 contender has grown to 1.2 million downloads, indicating that it is unlikely anyone will challenge her soon.December 28, 2011 at 9:27 pm #371713
I think another poster said on the forums that Nick Cannon said that Mariah wants to go in the direction of her first two albums. I would really love her to do some more pop/dance/jazz route, could possibly put her back on top.December 29, 2011 at 6:53 am #371714
We all know Mariah Carey’s first single will feature a rapper. I expect her to collaborate with Lil’ Wayne, Drake, J. Cole, B.O.B. and Big Sean to name a few. It’ll be the same ole, generic hip-hop mess that she always delivers.
