Hmmm…this could be a good move for Shakira. It’d be really dope if she could fuse her Latin style with hip-hop. It’s a shame that no one in the U.S. paid much attention to her last two albums. I know they did well internationally, but it just seems like U.S. audiences don’t care for quality pop/rock anymore.March 28, 2012 at 7:27 pm #380422
I agree DD. I think Shakira is amazing, not to mention hot as hell, and I always imagined she’d be so much bigger here than she is. Regardless, I always look forward to new music from Shakira.March 28, 2012 at 7:47 pm #380423

Shakira is working with Sia and Fernando Garibay in a track for her upcoming album.
Also, she is working with Afrojack, RedOne, Akon and LMFAO. I think her 8th studio album will bring more dance music than hip hopMarch 30, 2012 at 10:16 am #380428

Yay! I love Shakira. Her lyrics are amazing and she will be an amazing judge.September 18, 2012 at 4:52 pm #380432
It’s funny how the US is so resistant to Shakira. She either gets huge hits or big flops there. Anyway, Shakira is iconic in South America, and still surprisngly relevant. “The Voice” made a great move by getting her.September 19, 2012 at 7:52 am #380433
I wouldn’t judge the US when it comes to Shakira’s flops there. It’s really logical that she flops so much, her singles are never at the same level of her music in spanish and in the case of Hips Don’t Lie, one could say it was more of a novelty than just a really well written and produced track.
Don’t Bother was a good track that would not have been a hit for anybody, that’s a good album track for the US but an awful choice for a single. She Wolf was awesome once you got past the weird first listen and that awful video, but again, not what was IN in the US at the moment. Loca was a big miss for that market too. It’s the same mistake over and over again, meanwhile in spanish speaking countries and in Europe, people are eating it up and listening to her like crazy.
For a woman that has released some incredible songs, amazing albums and killer singles, she never seems to fully understand the US market and it’s not like she’s not trying, she clearly wants to succeed there and will keep on trying, but something needs to change.
