I used to love RED but after the exceptional first 5 tracks the album kinda drags. I ignored Speak Now at first but it has no skips and still has career highlights like BTD, enchanted, and hauntedFebruary 25, 2021 at 8:30 pm #1204062085

Most of her albums’ first half is stronger than the second half though.February 25, 2021 at 8:43 pm #1204062109
the diversity of opinions ranking her albums belies the strength of her discography. 9 albums that are at worst admirable and at best exquisite, that is a feat.February 25, 2021 at 9:26 pm #1204062169
The Art Directors Guild 2021 Nominations came out this morning and Cardigan was recognized. This is a pretty big deal as it’s a pretty prestigious award. Taylor’s team has two previous ADG nominations, which both came last year for the Lover music video in the Short Format category and for the Reputation Stadium Tour in the Variety, Reality, or Competition Series category. Neither won.
SHORT FORMAT: WEB SERIES, MUSIC VIDEO OR COMMERCIAL
Adidas Originals: “Superstar – Change is a Team Sport”
Production Designer: Ruth De Jong
Apple: “Vertical Cinema”
Production Designer: Shane Valentino
Camila Cabello: “My Oh My”
Production Designer: François Audouy
Harry Styles: “Falling”
Production Designer: François Audouy
Taylor Swift: “Cardigan”
Production Designer: Ethan Tobman
I don’t know how realistic Ethan’s chances are at the win as the other three are probably bigger names. Shane Valentino is also nominated in the big category of the night (Period Feature Film) so that may give him the edge. Personally, I’d give it to the “Falling” video as I think the art direction was the real star of that video, but I’m not really an expert in this field.February 25, 2021 at 10:21 pm #1204062216
Bruno is releasing soon omg. Lorde and Adele rumours are very strong too. Hope Adele or Drake don’t release anytime on or before April 9 because they can block fearless on bb200 (especially Adele)February 25, 2021 at 10:30 pm #1204062226This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.February 25, 2021 at 10:52 pm #1204062242
Bruno’s the only confirmed artist so farFebruary 25, 2021 at 11:18 pm #1204062263
I’m kind of optimistic that Taylor will debut at number 1 given Bruno’s the only artist who’s going to release music. 24K Magic debuted with 300K max WW.
I don’t think bruno is releasing on April 9. Fearless will probably do 150k-250k on billboard first week based on physical sales till now.
If adele/drake release before hand , they can block taylor in their second or third week. If they release on the same day then ofc they will block but drake is also from Republic so I don’t think he will clash with Taylor😅February 26, 2021 at 12:04 am #1204062281
Honestly Speak Now isn’t even close to being my favorite album but the fact that it’s entirely self written is so impressive. I can’t think of many other albums that have one artist writing everything. I’m sure it’s happened before (maybe more often back in the 20th century) but I still think incredibly impressive
Off the top of my head, all five of Fiona Apple’s album were entirely self written. John Mayer’s Battle Studies and The Search for Everything also.
It’s definitely impressive, for the fact Speak Now is self written, and a strong album.February 26, 2021 at 12:47 am #1204062323This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.February 26, 2021 at 4:13 am #1204062425This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.February 26, 2021 at 4:38 am #1204062440This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.February 26, 2021 at 4:49 am #1204062453

Folklore is the quintessential quarantine album. It’s going to be so iconic in the future. I personally love evermore more tho, I like albums that are all over the place and have lots of different and interesting songs. That’s why I love RED so much too. I don’t get the hype about cohesiveness … like i don’t mind it certainly but i don’t think it’s a deal breaker for me when it comes to albums. I just love how wild RED is, there’s all sorts of lows and highs and it makes so much sense when you think about how Taylor wanted it to be a heartbreak album and sings about all the ways of missing someone. Fits so well.
If I got a nickel for everytime i heard Folklore is the “quintessential quarantine album”….
But yeah I agree, she’s officially marked 2020 as her own with this album and it will be set in stone if she wins aoty. Another cultural reset in the bag!
