I want this so much, I want her to have one huge era like 1989 before she goes out but i doubt it’ll happen. I don’t think she wants to put herself out here in that sort of spotlight again.

she doesn’t need to be everywhere. Just the upbeat pop songs, and releasing proper singles. She can just do lowkey promo.

Looking at the Spotify numbers, Taylor will surely secure the second spot on the  IFPI global recording artist chart, behind only BTS who released 2 albums this year. That will make her the most successful female recording artist on the planet a fourth time.

She also will have the most impressive run on this 8 year old chart: #1 in 2014, #1 in 2019, #2 in 2020, #2 in 2015, #3 in 2017. Ed Sheeran has a similar strong run.

Amazingly, Taylor is in the later stages in her career (Fearless, Speak Now and the start of the RED era are not captured by this chart) and she still accomplishes this feat. Also, no other female artist placed more than twice on the chart and only Adele and Taylor managed to chart inside the top 5 representing female artists.

Lover did over 1 Million units this year in USA and around 100.000 in UK, since IFPI counts from early Dec. That’s more than BTS first album this year or the same. Taylor could be #1 again.

BTS sold a lot in their native country, South Korea. MOTS:7 alone pulled 4M+ pure copies there. Taylor has chance to defend the title earlier but BTS have released new album last week so that sealed the deal already. I will be surprised if Taylor gets #1 again.

    For you consideration :

Album of the year : folklore
Record of the year : Don't Start Now
Song of the year : cardigan
Best new artist : Phoebe Bridgers

Best pop vocal album : folklore
    Best rap album : Alfredo
Best alternative music album : Fetch the Bolt Cutters
Best progressive R&B album : Ungodly Hour

Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga both charted on the 2018 and 2019 list, so they had two placements too.

But yes, Taylor will most likely be the highest charting solo artist, and at worst, the highest female artist. And that’s incredibly impressive, considering that she still is the top selling solo artists worldwide in her 15th career year.

Spotify loves Taylor so much. They used august in one of their Spotify wrapped videos and thanked Taylor plus … that video is full of Easter eggs. I fear exile mv is coming.
