Let’s discuss set list opinions on the choice etc. here instead of in the AOTY thread.
Personally I like Abels music but I think he should definitely have at least one guest with him

Really interested in his setlist because he’s got like 3 songs without any prominent cursing in them.

I see Ariana as he has more songs with her. Also I know this isn’t happening but I love Earned It and In the Night so I wish he performed one of those but the only songs we’ll get from that era are The Hills and CFMF
ReplyCopy URLNovember 12, 2020 at 10:49 am #1203832066We will see. He’s just not a commanding performer to me. Bruno, Beyoncé, JLo and Shakira are all universally lauded entertainers. Singing won’t be an issue since most Super Bowl performers lip sync nowadays, so we are saved from his screechy tone and off key singing. But I mean, as a performer and entertainer? Just a big pile of meh! This will be a halftime show that will rely more on the visuals. Also who the hell will he sing to? A virtual audience? The nfl players only? I doubt COVID will be over by then. A mass vaccine will be available in April at the earliest. Congrats to Abel, and like I said earlier this year whomever is the next Super Bowl headliner, they’ll have a lot to prove because Shakira and JLo killed it this year!

‘I don’t have a Weeknd bias!’

I know you were expecting Miss Swift to get it
ReplyCopy URLNovember 12, 2020 at 11:00 am #1203832104This is great news! The Weeknd has done a great job at his live performances so far; I love how he adds little vocal inflections to his songs and tweaks them slightly every time he performs. He also has so many bangers from the After Hours era that he can perform here (I expect to hear all 3 songs in the “80’s trilogy”), plus from past era’s like Can’t Feel My Face and Starboy (though he may have to censor that one quite a bit). In terms of guests, I’d love to see Doja Cat join him so that they can perform In Your Eyes Remix together: plus Doja’s a great live performer too and has done a great job at her recent performances, so I think she would be a great guest pick.
