My swing for the fences wish is that he performs Starboy and then Daft Punk arrives and announces a new album and the lead single has the Weeknd on it.

    For Your Consideration:

    Best Picture: Wolfwalkers

    Best Animated Feature: Wolfwalkers

My pick for potential guests would be Ariana or Daft Punk off the top of my head.

Imagine he brought Daft Punk out of retirement

He better bring Daft Punk along for the show. I don’t care if it’s just stand-ins (it’s not like we’ll be able to tell), but their production could totally add to the sound of the After Hours tracks.

Ugh, imagine “Save Your Tears (feat. Daft Punk).” It’s getting me excited already!

(That said, I also wouldn’t mind if he had unexpected guests, as long as they make sense. Like an Erasure or Pet Shop Boys to appear on the 80s songs from AH, or a Fatboy Slim/Goldie/Roni Size/The Prodigy-type artist for that one drum and bass song he has.)

COVID better not ruin this for me!

It’s pretty cool that he’s performing. He’s one of, if not THE biggest stars on the planet and has a lot of good songs that should be heard on stage. Damn, imagine seeing Patrick Mahomes and then the Weeknd. Loads of entertainment value right there.

Entertainment Weekly named After Hours the second best album of the year:

“After’s title feels more than fitting for the artist born Abel Tesfaye, whose reign as the brooding Sith Lord of modern pop finds its apex on this sleek nocturnal mood piece: glassy, gorgeously falsettoed reflections on loneliness and lust and alienation designed for dancing in the dark (though they looked great under strobe lights, too). If the Grammys nominating committee infamously couldn’t recognize the album’s commercial and critical impact, let him wear that as a badge of honor — or fuel, at least, for the next round of desolate anthems.”

Rolling Stone named After Hours the 32nd best album of the year:

“Abel Tesfaye is at best when he follows his moody impulses through sleek sounds, and he did that brilliantly on his 2020 synth-pop smash “Blinding Lights.” The rest of After Hours is his best version yet of his go-to lachrymose lushness, splitting the difference between glowering self-indulgence and Top 40 smoothness on post-breakup purges like “Hardest to Love” and “Too Late,” as well as the Elton John-interpolating “Scared to Live,” and his vocal flexes throughout the LP prove once again that he’s one of the most gifted R&B crooners to hit the radio this century. Hard to love? Perhaps. But on After Hours, he’s never been easier to like.”

Rolling Stone named “Blinding Lights” the 4th best song of the year:

“With its fuzzy synths and hopscotching drum-machine line, “Blinding Lights” is the best New Wave song this side of Duran Duran. In just three minutes, the Weeknd checks off any number of Eighties pop-song signposts — unanswered phone calls, driving fast just to feel something, lights representing loneliness — but the real magic is how his voice and the song’s chiming keyboard line lingers in your head well after he injects new life into the greatest Eighties-steeped lyrical cliché of them all: “I can’t sleep until I feel your touch.””
