To me, Alison Krauss should have some Grammy glitter and shine for the following songs that she herself wrote. (smiles)
“Shimney Down The Chimney” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr2_Hx1Jgl4
“Only You Can Bring Me Cheer” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ujvt9kMYbF8
Let us not forget about her awesome duets with Alan Jackson, Gary Chapman, and Kenny Rogers, may God rest that gambler’s soul.

To me, LeAnn Rimes did an awesome job on the following songs.
“Holiday In Your Heart” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TixWV3LJx5Y
“I Miss You Like Christmas” (a song that she wrote) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0wwPdgpw7M
Tanya Tucker did a song I believe back in 1995 when I was only thirteen that I sadly did not finally hear until just three years ago. This song apparently was given very little acknowledgement if any or I would’ve known about it back when it was first released. Anyway to me, this is one of the best songs about the real meaning of the season and Tanya couldn’t have done a better job on it. (smiles)
“The Wonder” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfCFDg5lrtk
My most favorite male singer who is still here, James Otto, does an awesome country soul rendition of “Go Tell It On The Mountain”. (smiles)

One of my most favorite singers who should still be here but isn’t, Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys that is, did the lead singing for two songs from the Christmas album that was done by him while with the other group members which sadly ended up being his final album as a member of the act.
“Blue Christmas” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGTUxyKEhvY
“Thank God For Kids” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sw7X509r1U
Every time that I hear him sing that song about kids, I wish that I could put my arms around him and say that I love him even if other people walked away from him. (trying not to cry for him again)
Brad Paisley-“Born On Christmas Day” and “Kung Pao Buckaroo Holiday”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXjYIs2Mr5U
The following people in my opinion have released stellar from start to finish Christmas albums! (smiles)
Toby Keith-Christmas To Christmas (Standouts: “Santa, I’m Right Here”, “Jesus Gets Jealous Of Santa Claus” which was written by Keith Urban before we knew him here in the states, “Mary, Its Christmas”, and “What Made The Baby Cry”)
SheDaisy-Brand New Year (Standouts: “Santa’s Got A Brand New Bag”, “That’s What I Want For Christmas”, “What Child Is This”, and “The Secret Of Christmas”)
Kenny Chesney-All I Want For Christmas Is A Real Good Tan (Standouts “Just A Kid”, “Silent Night”, and “O Little Town Of Bethlehem”)
Kathy Mattea-Good News (Standouts “Brightest And Best” and “Christ Child’s Lullaby”)
Steve Wariner-Christmas Memories (Standouts: the title track which is a self written instrumental, “Our Savior Is Born”, and “Do You Hear What I Here”)
Skip Ewing-Following Yonder Star (Standouts: the “Following Yonder Star medley, “Alleluia”, “It Wasn’t His Child” which he is the writer of, and “I Trust You”)
Travis Tritt-Loving Time Of The Year” (Standouts: “Winter Wonderland”, “Christmas In My Hometown”, “Loving Time Of The Year”, “Silver Bells” which in opinion is the best rendition of the song that exists…CRANK IT UP!!!)
God bless you and my favorite singers who are still here always!!!
Holly
P.S. To me, country singer Joe Diffie should still be here! I just pray that the Lord didn’t take issue with this song from him since it isn’t about the real reason for the season, especially when Joe, years later, did the awesome song named “Tougher Than Nails”.

Another singer who should still be here in my opinion is the most recently deceased Hal Ketchum. Sadly a Christmas album from him was never done, but I did just run across an awesome Christmas performance of his that took place sometime during the mid 1990s.

“Underneath the Tree” is fantastic, but as someone who works retail and has had to listen to it since October I can assure you it is not underrated.

Yeah it’s definitely not exactly unknown but I don’t think that it comes to mind when you think of Christmas hits (and it should).

I’d agree with that, and of the many Kelly Clarkson Christmas songs I hear at work “Underneath the Tree” is the only one that always makes me smile.
