I agree that H.E.R is overrated. I liker H.E.R, and she’s insanely talented, but seeing people talk shit about Dua Lipa was unfair; she has a stronger discography, IMO.
As much as my gay ass loves those albums, The Fame and The Fame Monster have aged terribly, mostly thanks to the production (which sounds outdated).
1989 is viciously underrated.August 12, 2019 at 7:21 am #1203020358

I 100% agree with everything you said.August 12, 2019 at 7:24 am #1203020361
Some of my random thoughts:
Sweetener is Ariana’s worst album (thanks to Pharrell) while Thank U, Next is her best album.
A Star Is Born Soundtrack is overall pretty boring (there are some great songs but a lot of fillers).
TIA didn’t deserve to win SOTY and 4 Grammys last year.
Beyonce is overrated (but that’s not unpopular).August 12, 2019 at 7:30 am #1203020378
Rihanna’s ANTI sucks and sounds like a collection of unreleased songs by random alternative R&B singers. Its production, with the exception of a few songs like Kiss it Better and Desperado, is pretty bad. Her worst album, IMO. Even LOUD(generic) and Unapologetic(extremely uneven) are better.
Billie Eilish’s album is a snoozefest and the fact people and even critics love her is beyond me.
1989 is the only pop album that deserved to win AOTY this decade. With the exception of SIO and Bad Blood, the lyrics/melodies/production are very good. Reputation, on the other hand, is total trash. Fearless, although decent, is vastly overrated. Her best album is Speak Now, followed by 1989, and Red is the most mature and with the better lyrics, plus, it has some of her best songs ever.
Lady Gaga’s songwriting sucks and her only good album is The Fame Monster EP. Still, it, along with The Fame, always sounded generic and feels outdated since 2015. Whilst Born This Way is a pretentious and uneven mess, two of her best songs are in it: The Edge of Glory and You and I. Those two will stand the test of time. Besides, she is and always was overrated because she gave what the media wanted: bread and circuses.
Dua Lipa deserved to win BNA because her album is great. It has style, it has personality, and it sounds timeless and modern at the same time.
Meghan Trainor’s discography and songs are among the worst ever produced (not sure this is unpopular, but saying it anyway). Kylie Minogue, on the other hand, has one of the best pop discographies and her videography is also great. She deserved more commercial success.August 12, 2019 at 7:59 am #1203020427
Ariana Grande is not that great of a singer. Miley Cyrus is more talented than she is.
Drake is extremely overrated and has not made one true classic album.
Eminem is one trick pony.
The Rolling Stones >>> The Beatles
Prince >>>>>> Michael Jackson
Janet Jackson is also a better artist than Michael Jackson ever was.August 12, 2019 at 9:30 am #1203020623
Paula Abdul is the greatest female dancer of all time.
She incorporated Jazz, Tap, & Hip-Hop steps into Pop and choreographed ALL of her own performances/videos!
Her set at the 1989 VMAs is underrated. She SLAYED from start to finish!August 12, 2019 at 9:45 am #1203020637
Bionic did NOT deserve to FLOP!
It’s one of Xtina’s most unique, creative, riskiest, and a head of its time albums.
Before Sia became the go to songwriter, Xtina had her material first.
Before Stinky Whoreaj became a full blown Pop turd, Xtina featured her first.
That era deserved so much better.August 12, 2019 at 10:21 am #1203020680
Honey, Christina Aguilera should’ve won Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year by now.August 12, 2019 at 10:50 am #1203020712
Duffy’s debut album was stronger than Adele’s.
Radiohead, Coldplay, and Lil Wayne all deserved to win AOTY more than Robert Plant & Alison Krauss in 2009. That album is a snooze. And “Please Read the Letter” was by far the worst nominee in ROTY.
Channel Orange should’ve won AOTY in 2013 obviously, but Babel was the next best choice.
Britney Spears should have more than one Grammy.
