    Hello no. It was Billie vs. Lana from the days nominations were announced. Great album but tough competition.

    It was Billie v. Lizzo, Lana competing in AOTY was wishful thinking.

    10/10:

    Fetch the Bolt Cutters, After Hours, RTJ4, and What's Your Pleasure?

    Maybe. Radiohead were widely regarded as overdue and In Rainbows did very well critically and commercially. In Rainbows definitely would’ve been my pick for AOTY that year.

    In Rainbows was very monotone imo. Raising Sand snatched not one but two Pop Collab wins along with a country win. The album, content-wise, trumps In Rainbows for me. Both albums were great. That year was competitive.

    Lizzo was never going to happen. Only God knows what anybody deems AOTY worthy in the deluxe version of Cuz I Love You. And Lana was high on her odds having the highest acclaimed album in the lineup.

    Probably just me but The Weeknd’s music really rubs me the wrong way. I hated hated hated Can’t Feel My Face and The Hills. Like, I can’t point out any flaws with him or his music I just really don’t like it that much. After Hours was better but I can’t get over how much I hated him back in 2016.

    Bruno Mars- amazing performer, the embodiment of Michael Jackson’s charisma and star power we won’t see in another male singer this generation

    The Weeknd- amazing songwriter and producer, the things that man did to alternative r&b into a dark place.

    I saw The Weeknd perform live at the AMAs one year and he was boring asf. No stage presence, no energy, and no charisma whatsoever.

    Yes, he is so boring live. Bruno is a superstar and has charisma of Michael Jackson when it comes to performing.

    It was Billie v. Lizzo, Lana competing in AOTY was wishful thinking.

    This 100%.

    Lana winning was always just a stan pipe dream (just like Lorde).

    With AOTY and SOTY being her only nominees without the corresponding ones in the Pop Field, meant that she was obviously only out there because of the Blue Rippon Panel and clearly didn’t have the support to win (and high-key never has).

    Whereas “wwafa, wdwg” winning AOTY was obvious was the moment nominations where announced, it was the 4th most acclaimed album of 2019 by critics and the most commercially successful (by a fairly large margin).

    And this is me bragging but I called Billie winning from day 1.

    Billie Eilish is winning Album of the Year. Bookmark me on this.

    The only submission she never got nominated for was Music Video for When the Party’s Over. She got nominated everywhere else where eligible.

    Finneas also got nominated for Producer of the Year just for Billie’s Album. For context, every time an AoTY nominated album’s producer has been nominated for Producer of the Year, non-classical, they have been won AoTY

    2012 – Paul Epworth (21) {won PoTY}
    2013 – Markus Davis (Babel) {nom}
    Note: Dan Aucherbach (El Camino) {won Producer}, while Jeff Bhasker (Some Nights) also nominated.
    2014 – Pharrell (Random Access Memories) {won} (also won Engineered Album)
    2015 – N/A
    2016 – Blake Mills (Sound & Color) & Dave Cobb (Traveller) {both nom}, 1989 won AoTY.
    2017 – Greg Kursten & Max Martin (both 25) {won and nominated, respectively}
    2018 – The Stereotypes {24K Magic, nom}, also won engineered album.
    Note – Greg Kursten (“Love” from Damn) {won producer}, No.ID {4:44, also nom},
    2019 – N/A
    2020 – Jack Antonoff (NFR) & Finneas (WWAFA, WDWG?) nominated for Producer of the Year.

    Additionally, WWAFA, WDWG has also been nominated for Best Engineered Album, non-classical.

    Every AoTY nominee (Daft Punk, Beck, Bruno Mars) this decade that’s been nominated there won that category before going on to win AoTY.

    What’s more both Daft Punk & Bruno’s albums, a producer nominated for both Producer of the Year and Engineered Album, just like Billie’s album.

    So, congrats Billie on your future AoTY win.
