    Where is Silk Sonic’s album??

Also Adele might drop her album before the end of the eligibility period (?)

I would LOVE to see Adele, Bruno/Silk Sonic, Billie, in contention for AOTY in the same year! That would be awesome!!

    Adele would win everything.

Jessie Ware should have won best dance recording and best dance/electronic album. It’s the best dance pop album of all time yet it’s Grammyless

“Shether” is underrated. IMO, she singlehandedly ended Nicki’s career with one song. Also, it would have been a better option in Rap Song over “All the Way Up.”

As soon as Nicki Minaj had competition from other Female rappers, her career suffered. It shows that she benefitted for years from a lack of representation in the genre. Being pushed by a major label didn’t hurt either.

I doubt this is an unpopular opinion! Jessie Were is widely respected and loved by people who are passionate about music. If the Grammys weren’t about popularity contests or mainstream star quality they’d give artists like her, who make actual excellent music, LOTS of awards.

Arlo Parks - Collapsed In Sunbeams
    St. Vincent - Daddy's Home
    Jazmine Sullivan - Heaux Tales

The fact that Jessie Ware was not even nominated is a crime.

Ok y’all hear me out, which is the sadder album? For Emma For Ever Ago vs Blonde

Get real!  Frank Ocean’s music is NOT overrated.  That overrated title belongs to Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Lorde, Kacey Musgraves, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift.

i had to laugh. Especially since him, Tyler, and Kevin Abstract are some of the most prolific queer black artists making music right now that is groundbreaking and crucial in the mainstream atm.

Honey, you are granted a pass for this just bc of the title of this thread.

I’m sorry but what do Tyler and Kevin have to do with anything here though? Not to sound rude or anything, I’m actually just confused.

Blonde is such a bore. Pitchfork gave this a 9 and named it the best album of the last decade? And placed it above the one album they gave a 10? Not cool.

I review albums on a track-by-track basis, so here’s my Blonde review:

    1. “Nikes” (4/10) – That autotune did not just hit me the right way. So much space in this song, especially when he has so much to say. The sing/rap at the end, that sort of came out of nowhere, sounds like an impromptu freestyle, and not the best. Production is nothing special either. For the majority of the song, it’s annoying. The song’s redeeming qualities come slightly at the end. Not a good opening IMO.

    2. “Ivy” (5/10) – This sounds like a filler track to a teen pop album, lyrically and musically. Vocally it’s fine, then there’s the shouting that comes out of nowhere at the end. Production is, again, nothing special. Wtf is going on at the very end???

    3. “Pink + White” (10/10) – This one I love. I love his voice so much here. Beyoncé’s distant vocalizations also flesh out the track to become one of the albums best. Lyrically, the track is good too. Production I love as well.

    4. “Be Yourself” (6/10) – What’s with this preachy interlude?

    5. “Solo” (7/10) – Yes, I like this one. Starts well, glad he continued with that flow. The track could’ve used some more dynamic production though.

    6. “Skyline To” (6/10) – Idk why sometimes it sounds like he’s freestyling as isn’t that much of a good freestyler? The beginning of this song, sounded confused af to me. The latter half is fine. So the former is a 4 and latter is an 8, midpoint = 6.

    7. “Self Control” (7/10) – Sounds too much like a filler track. The tracks on this album are empty and not in a good way. There’s the intermittent childlike voice for what reason? The end, however, is why I’m gave this track a 7. Love those harmonies.

    8. “Good Guy”(4/10) – Wtf?

    9. “Nights” (8/10) – Why is some of the production on “the album of the decade” sounding so derivative and not in a good way? The latter half of the song is this song’s redeeming quality. So what’s the midpoint between a 6 and a 10? 8. You don’t waste my time and get a good rating.

    10. “Solo” (Reprise) (10/10) – André is killing it as usual. Fire from start to finish.

    11. “Pretty Sweet” (9/10) – Now, production shines. I love this one. I’m not a fan of how the song sounds like it started from the end of another song. But it’s a cool track.

    12. “Facebook Story” (6/10) – Okay?

    13. “Close to You” (8/10) – Fine track. Simple. Fine production. It’s annoyingly a bridge between a full song and an interlude. But length aside, it’s fine.

    14. “White Ferrari” (9/10) – Fine track. Love the vocals.

    15. “Seigfried” (9/10) – Production has steadily been better on this album, I’ll give it that.

    16. “Godspeed” (6/10) – Nah. I get what he tried to do here, I didn’t just feel it.

    17. “Futura Free” (7/10) – Not the most impressive outro out there. But thankfully, it’s over now.

    Score: 7.1

While it scores high from my review, I must sav overall this album was a chore to listen to. I cannot find myself replaying this anytime soon, except maybe to re-evaluate my decision or something.

If something or someone is overrated, that person or thing is considered to be better or more important than they really are

its quite clear we have differences on opinion on Blonde. I don’t really want to Internet argue you, but I will say that Blonde is not overrated, I don’t think we should say anything artistic is overrated because this album helped SO many people go through so much shit. Especially queer artists who have made queer albums or reference queer motifs in their albums or songs. I know you probably did not mean that, but it was definitely a poor choice of words.

Yeah, I just meant it in the sense that I seriously didn’t get the hype over it in 2016. Of course, things hit different to different people.
