If Kendrick Lamar’s new album is at least on the level of Damn I’m expecting him to finally take home the AOTY award. A black artist has got to win it SOMETIME this decade and I feel he’s the chosen one.

If Outkast is any indication, for a rap album to win AOTY it needs to be very pop-appealing.
I think the album would have to be politically-minded, closer to To Pimp a Butterfly, but with a couple of accessible hits. I think the difference now is the wait between Damn and this album building anticipation, compared to the wait between TPAB and Damn, along with the desire to reward a rap album. Kendrick is accessible and well-known enough to get support outside of the genre.

SOTY, BPSP and BPVA are already in the bag. With no major releases and massive radio approval it will remain for the tenth week.
I BELIEVE that if Kendrick couldn’t beat Daft Punk, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and Kacey Musgraves, he’s hardly going to be a strong competition against the biggest Grammy darling in history. We will see.
