If BPVA is a pop album full of hits that its definetely “poppy”, then Lover should have won last year.

Can someone name one trend that they followed?

Is “Beck winning Engineered Album for anything he drops” considered a trend already?

We also learned Pitchfork was right for the first time with the AOTY/BPVA possible split.

What? I thought Megan was amazing and she was rapping live. Plus her choreo was great.

Was cardi lip syncing tho? No hate to her but it didn’t sound like she was rapping live to me

I was impressed with DaBaby. I hate his music but his performance was great

out of all of them I enjoyed Megan the most.

Congratulations to Grammy Winners: Jazmine Sullivan, Doja Cat, SZA and Olivia Rodrigo!

Someone said somewhere else Folklore didn’t win pop vocal because the voters didn’t see it as pop album. We know though even if she submitted somewhere else she would have been moved to pop regardless.

    Which is bullshit.

how is any committee going to dictate what the ARTIST defines their own music as?

    Do artists really get moved?

Lover had no smash hits. It was a bad album tbh.

I don’t think it was a bad album, just bloated. It really could have benefitted with 3-4 songs cut

To be fair, Megan, Cardi and Doja incorporate choreography in their performances, so I’m not surprised by the miming.

Dont forget the latest Justin Bieber issue, he wanted to be in RnB, he argued his album is sound-based RnB, but he was put in pop. I think they dont easily allow pop acts to dwidle around even if the sound is sonically different to protect weaker nominees in other categories.

Yes. Probably what happened with Justin Bieber this year and that’s why he’s so upset

At least they did not give ROTY and SOTY to the same song.

They’ve been doing this for decades but I think considering ROTY the most important category is bullshit because the average viewer doesn’t even know the difference between SOTY & ROTY.

That having the ceremony in a reception style setting, and presenting video montages of the artists and songs nominated for the grand prize really elevated the Grammys. I loved this ceremony, I loved that the wealth was spread throughout all the incredible artists who dominated the year. That prestige and honor that we have been missing for years from the Grammys was felt last night. Kudos to the producers and to the performers for putting on a fantastic show. Obviously the ceremony was done in this style due to the covid pandemic, but really hope they stick with this format in the years to come. Treated for what it is an award show honoring the best in music not a concert.

Congratulations to Grammy Winners: Jazmine Sullivan, Doja Cat, SZA and Olivia Rodrigo!
