    Lionel Richie would have won Pop Album for Can’t Slow Down (with Hello, Running With The Night, Penny Lover and All Night Long)

    Would Cyndi Lauper have submitted She’s So Unusual in Pop Album?

    Also, Madonna would have submitted Like A Prayer, Like A Virgin and True Blue albums to Pop Album.

    I always wonder why it took them so long to create these album categories

    Some of these awards existed earlier with different names:

    e.g. for Pop music

    Best Contemporary Album presented at the 1968 awards.

    * 1968 – The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
    https://www.grammy.com/grammys/awards/10th-annual-grammy-awards

    It appears that it only existed for one year and then appeared again as Best Pop Vocal Album in 1995. You’d think that The Beatles would have picked up more pop album awards if the award had existed earlier, but I’m not so sure. The Grammys appears to like them more after they split up that when they were an active group.

    Would Whitney Houston’s I’m Your Baby Tonight be submitted to R&B Album?

    I think that there is a chance that the I’m Your Baby Tonight album would have been submitted to R&B Album.

    Even though 2 of the songs (I’m Your Baby Tonight in 1991 and All The Man That I Need in 1992) were submitted to pop, but we also had I Belong To You submitted to R&B Female in 1993.

    I also wonder if Luther Vandross would have won R&B Album any years prior to 1994.

    Aretha would have dominated R&B Album during the 7 years that she had a stranglehold on Female R&B Vocal.

    I think Garth Brooks’s Ropin’ the Wind, kd lang’s Absolute Torch & Twang, Brooks & Dunn’s Brand New Man and Kentucky Headhunters’s Pickin’ On Nashville will win.

    I would have been rooting for Patti LaBelle’s Burnin’ because that is one of her best albums and this album finally won her first Grammy.

    Agreed! Burnin’ was one of her best, Gems was her best, and Flame was underwhelming. I personally would’ve been rooting for Gladys. While Good Woman wasn’t her solo debut album, it was the first that garnered her success as a solo artist, and it’s beautiful from beginning to end. As for Vanessa, I love her, but even in a hypothetical race, she wouldn’t have stood a chance. Lol.
