The simplicity of AIWFCIY is what makes its message so universal. It’s catchy, has a memorable melody, & really conveys the spirit of Christmas.

Last Christmas I managed to get some money and comics that I had wanted for a long time. I heard a rumor that this Christmas I would be getting something more valuable. I’m looking forward to it! Frankly, I really want to get this for Christmas: https://www.popartyou.com/. I hope my parents see this post and do the right thing, haha. Either way, it’s a very appealing gift.November 30, 2021 at 10:19 am #1204615502
I LOVE christmas music but things like “White Christmas” or the chestnuts roasting on an open fire don’t do it for me. What can I say I hate snow and prefers a coffee with a special flavor to the do it yourself route lol. I want upbeat happy and thats what makes it so much fun for meNovember 30, 2021 at 10:31 am #1204615527
Because it’s not corny and Mariah makes Christmas music for the sake of celebrating Christmas…Other artists do it only for the money so it doesn’t have the same authenticity and impact.

Radio. The radio plays it constantly during Christmas. It eventually became the modern Christmas song.December 1, 2021 at 8:54 am #1204617406
Why has this song become such an iconic piece in music history? Say what you want about Mariah, but this woman but as if she wasn’t already a legend, her “All I want…” will be a timeless Christmas song. Why has it become such a staple not only in the states but all around the world as the signature Christmas tune. And why haven’t other modern singles shared the same fate? Most songs in the Christmas catalogue are from artists who already passed away, save for Mimi and Jose Feliciano’s: “Feliz Navidad”. What is the formula that made “All I Want ..” a modern day classic! Which holiday songs by the artists of today do you see becoming timeless classics?
Mariah benefited from releasing the song when she was at her peak in her career in between her two biggest albums. Before then a lot of artist will release Christmas music later in their career so she was able to promote much more while she was still popular. She also continued to get hits after it release so it allowed her to promote the song each time the end of the year came around. There’s also the fact that people thinks traditionalism when it comes to Christmas that’s why covers of Christmas songs do do as well as the original versions from Nat King Cole and Brenda Lee. Now that we are in the era of streaming, all it takes is promo to have the top Christmas song and Mariah starts hers in October and gets in full swing in November and December. The song already has multiple versions remixes and music videos from 3 different decades to promote it. A lot of the artists are older or retired and aren’t in the business like Mariah is. And the fact that she’s one of the most successful artist ever and had decades of longevity give her familiarity with the general public even if they don’t go out their way to listen to all her music. Artist like like Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber are the closest to having Christmas classics because they released it at the right time in their careers and stayed relevant that people don’t mind hearing Mistletoe, Santa Tell Me and Underneath the Tree. As each year go by their songs will get bigger and bigger. it will take a while to get to Mariah’s level because she’s been promoting the song for over 25 years and a lot of other Christmas songs over 35 years old with less promo but more nostalgia.December 1, 2021 at 12:54 pm #1204617898
Just that first 20 seconds, and then a 180 transition, is magical and makes a classic.December 3, 2021 at 11:50 am #1204624015
