Moon River or Strangers in the Night. Flipped a coin and Sinatra won.

I’m going to give it to the second most recorded pop song in history, which is a far most interesting song than what it might seem at first glance. There is great analysis of the song by Adam Neely here:

The Girl From Ipanema is a far weirder song than you thought

The Getz/Gilberto version might be the best recording too. Sinatra was overrated.

Days of wine and rose and Mrs. robinson are the best. There is not even a competition. These two shits all over other winners.

“Mrs. Robinson” for sure with “The Girl from Ipanema” 2nd and “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” rounding out the top 3. Tony Bennett is fine but the rest of the old guard type music winning was not the best examples of the old guard at this point IMO, Streisand’s magnificent 60s singles alone should have filled the void the elder members were feeling about the music scene. Sorry, but I have never figured out why Sinatra is so adored. Not saying he is bad whatsoever, he just shouldn’t be up as high on the pedestal is all.
