I’m just going to focus on Mariah Carey and her 18 number one singles. Really? Mariah Carey is between The Beatles and Elvis for most number one singles? She is only second on that list because of her marriage to Tommy Matolla and her discounted cassette gave her way too many number one hits including:
    “Touch My Body”
    “Don’t Forget About Us”
    “Thank God I Found You”
    “My All”

and “One Sweet Day” should not hold the record for longest weeks at number one!

I like Marah but this true I worked at Camelot Music and all these singles and more were sold for .50 cents .

Yeah I agree on those specific Mariah #1’s. The 49 cent cd single at that time was a dirty ploy. I mean THANK GOD I FOUND YOU is down in the record books as as number one song? I mean that pop song peaked at like #30 (or something close) on it’s core pop radio format. I can honestly say I have NEVER heard that song on the radio.
They tried the same 49 cent thing with Loverboy but Bootylicous did the 49 cent thing too. Bootylicous took the number one spot bc it actually had big radio air play also. Can you imagine? Loverboy was almost another Mariah number one? I mean Loverboy barely hit ghee top 40 at radio! Thank God for Bootylicous!

Also I love Paula Abdul but her sixth #1 single PROMISE OF A NEW DAY always seemed strange.
I mean the week it got #1 on Hot100, Bryan Adams’s Everything I do was still number one on air play and sales. So how was it not the Hot 100 #1?
