I really don’t want to admit that 1989 is my fav but of the bunch but it is. I liked Arcade Fire’s first two albums a lot more than The Suburbs. Golden Hour and RAM are also solid. That Beck record isn’t one of my favs from him.

Listen Idiot Awards Voters, give as many awards as you possibly can to these albums:

Fiona Apple- Fetch the Bolt Cutters
Haim- Women in Music Part lll
Run the Jewels- Run the Jewels 4

Just shut up honestly. If you think other people’s work is so bad then try to make an album yourself and we will see how GREAT it turns out.

For me it’s absolutely 1989, my favorite album ever from my favorite artist. This album is such a defining moment in Taylor’s career for a reason; she made the transition from country pop in Red to full pop perfectly in this album. I just listened to it again today and it still holds up. There’s not a single bad song on this album, and very few that are just okay. Even songs I completely forgot about like I Know Places and I Wish You Would are huge bangers: that’s how good it is. For me, this album has the best blend of great songwriting, great vocals, and great production, especially in songs like Shake It Off, Blank Space, Style, Wildest Dreams, and New Romantics (the best bonus track ever), whereas other Taylor albums are heavier on one aspect than another (like Reputation, which has great production but lesser lyrics, or Lover, which has great lyrics but lesser production). I know music is super suggestive, and this probably didn’t convince anyone who dislikes 1989 to change their mind, but that’s just how I feel.

    ot

You actually managed to express a lot of feelings I also have regarding 1989. I feel it truly was, and still is, the perfect album for her. Plus the success and love it had both commercially and critically is really impressive. I mean if your album is loved by critics, sells more than any other and manages to have THREE number one bangers + other THREE top ten hits…. well you know it’s truly a special one.
