Let me clarify this post. The albums that were selected were based off of the Billboard 200 Year End Chart for 2012. I chose the albums that were the most popular during that year. Drake released Take Care in November 2011, but was on the charts throughout 2012. An album didn’t have to be released that year in order to be part of this list when it’s based off of the charts and popularity. I chose the more commercial albums than albums from Frank Ocean and Lana Del Rey. Xtina would’ve been 2013 on my list since it was released in November 2012. Red could’ve slotted in either 2012 or 2013. You can write on the post YOUR favorite album of 2012 that isn’t on this list. That is perfectly fine. I’m doing this in order for us all to take our minds off of the pandemic and the social issues of the world.

Red by Taylor Swift charted higher on the 2012 year-end list than all of these albums and was released in 2012. Why is it not included?

Red was #2/#3 on both 2012 and 2013 year end charts.

I was planning on saving Taylor’s Red for the 2013 forum due to the fact that most of the album’s success was reflecting on the album charts from 2013. Taylor could’ve slotted in 2012 with ease but I wanted to put that record for 2013.

I was going to save that for the “Which is the best album of 2013?” forum. I could’ve put Red there but I thought it was better to put it in 2013 due to the fact that most of the album’s success happened in 2013 with the singles, videos and tour.

    Channel Orange is.

Nothing wrong with that. You can select the albums on this list or not and also say what you feel is the best or your favorite album of 2012.

    Red – Taylor Swift

But out of the ones listed Take Care – Drake. Such a great listen. I feel like that album solidified drake as a superstar.

The Idler Wheel, ‘Good Kid’, Lonerism, The Seer are my favs from that year. Red would probably be in my top 15 somewhere. Like I said, that was a really good year for music, probably the best year from the last decade. This list doesn’t reflect that.

best albums of 2020: Fetch The Bolt Cutters, Set My Heart On Fire Immediately, What’s Your Pleasure, Run The Jewels 4, St Cloud, Grae, The Descendants of Cain

Look back at my past posts on this forum. I hate repeating myself. These albums were based on the Year End Charts. They were listed based on popularity. Not on critical acclaim. I was planning on saving Kendrick for the 2013 forum. Channel Orange is a great album but didn’t even reach the top 50 of the Billboard 200 Year End Chart which is why it is not included on the list.
