I understand where you are coming from @Gagamon but as a self proclaimed delusional little monster I think she should have done her submissions as such:

Born This Way (Album): AOTY, PVA

Born This Way (Single): ROTY, Dance Recording (I still think that pop stars who have EDM/Dance as a cornerstone of their artistic identities and have done it throughout their careers should still be nominated. Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Britney Spears, Rihanna) also, BTW in Dance Recording would NOT have been category fraud, would have been a deserving winner and would give the era a grammy – and every little monster wants to call BTW a grammy winning song

Edge of Glory: SOTY, PSP – This song was SOTY bait. It was Gaga writing about the passing of her grandfather and was acclaimed by critics like come on

You & I: Rock Performance/Rock Song: Yeah Yeah how could you say this? I get it, But You & I IS a rock song. Gaga herself said she was afraid to release it as a single because it was a bit to Rock & Roll, and the rock aspects of the album are very obvious, I think it could have been a good bet in the performance category-the vocals are great)

BMV could have literally been ANY of the singles but BTW, Judas & Marry the Night would probably have been the best idea.

    Preferred Nominations:

AOTY, ROTY, SOTY, Pop Solo, PVA, Dance Recording, Rock Performance, Music Video

    – I only see her taking home Dance Recording in this scenario, she is not beating Adele as previously shown, and their is no way Rock voters would give her the award over the Foo Fighters, if it was still split Solo & Group she would have won.

In conclusion, Born This Way deserved a grammy. It is a very telling example of a grammy deserving project obviously well respected by voters not receiving any love due to a sweep by another deserving project. This is why I loved the 2021 grammys in this aspect – both Folklore & Future Nostalgia deserved a grammy, as did Fine Line & Chromatica, and in the end all were rewarded. However, Savage winning Rap Song was a choice, I love the song and it deserved performance, but Roddy Ricch was the only Rapper in SOTY that year, and only had one other songwriter for the song, Savage had 9 credited songwriters, (while the original track had 4)

To the poster who put Alanis’ “Ironic” in the SOTY snubs – it wasn’t even eligible. It did receive ROTY as that was the only eligible category it could get in that year. “Landslide” was not submitted at all, they submitted “Long Time Gone”, instead. Neither are technically snubs.

    ROTY:
“Lady Marmalade” – Christina Aguilera/Pink/Mya/Lil Kim
    “Beautiful” – Christina Aguilera
“Say it Right” – Nelly Furtado
    “SexyBack” – Justin Timberlake/Timbaland
“You Oughta Know” – Alanis Morissette
“Go Your Own Way” – Fleetwood Mac (I assume this was submitted and not “Dreams”)
    “Bad Romance” – Lady Gaga
“Since U Been Gone” – Kelly Clarkson
    “Try Again” – Aaliyah
    “Toxic” – Britney Spears
    “Blinding Lights” – The Weeknd
    “No One” – Alicia Keys
“Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” – Stevie Nicks/Tom Petty
“Smells Like Teen Spirit” – Nirvana

    SOTY:
    “Uninvited” – Alanis Morissette
    “No One” – Alicia Keys
    “White Houses” – Vanessa Carlton
    “Free Fallin'” – Tom Petty
    “Secret Garden” – Bruce Springsteen

I will say that I was surprised that the original Lady Marmalade by LaBelle was not nominated for a Grammy and would have been worthy of a win in R&B Duo or Group. I would not have been mad if it was nominated for Record of the Year.

Aretha Franklin – Respect and Freeway of Love

I don’t know if people realize this, but Franklin never had a General Field nomination. NOMINATION.

Sounds as crazy as like Katherine Hepburn not being part of any of the Best Picture winners.

The mid-90s had the best run of GF nominations in the history of the Grammys (the BRP had just been installed and was making a huge difference), and it is hard to figure out what to take out of the lineup. But I will NEVER understand “Don’t Speak” being left out of Record and Song. It should have been an easier winner, yet it wasn’t even nominated.

The other I always come back to is “Emotions” by Mariah. She was continually snubbed in the GF through her whole career, but “Emotions” being left out is inexplicable. It’s Carey at her absolute best and it follows significant Grammy success the year before.

I agree mid-90s were amazing with nominations such as 1979, Waterfalls, One of Us, Ironic and Mmmbop. However, Don’t Speak was in fact nominated for Song of the Year, just missed RotY.

In addition to a bunch that have been posted already, “Don’t Drink the Water” by the Dave Matthews Band would’ve been an absolutely deserving SOTY nominee (hell, it would’ve been a deserving Grammy nominee, period).
