It’s simple, what artists are you ready to hear new music from?
Here’s my list of 5 Artists I think have waited long enough to release new material:
1. The Dixie Chicks! It has simply been too long since they’ve recorded new music. I can’t believe how long ago “Taking the long Way” was released. My concern is do they have anything left to sing about?
2. Pink: I know that “Perfec” was a hit a year ago; but I want something more from her! Let’s get to it Pink! I hope her new album comes out soon.
3. Janet Jackson… Even though I haven’t enjoyed a Janet album fully since “All For You” I just keep hoping she’ll WOW me with her next effort. So far that has no happened. Janet I’m waiting.
4. Christina Aguilera— Girl now is the time to get back in the studio, release some quality material and take #1 on the charts. you can do it girl… get to it!
5. This isn’t so much an artist as a wish… I’d love to see Adam Levine release an album of solo material. His fame is skyrocketing with “The Voice” so I’d love to see him release a full-studio album with original material of his own!June 21, 2012 at 4:05 pm #381710
^^WOW!! I agree with ALL of those artists!!
I want new music from all those ladies so badly. Especially The Dixie Chicks and Christina.
I was just listening to “Taking The Long Way” and “Stripped” and was like, DANG, these girls can REALLY deliver when they want to and put our amazing/quality material. “Bionic” was a mis-step, but I know she can really pull it together for her next album, she is looking great right now and Season 3 of THE VOICE starts soon, so I hope that it happens this year.
Shania Twain is also WAYY over-due to release some new material. It’s been 10 years since UP! Which is just crazy.June 21, 2012 at 4:18 pm #381711
Here is another: CHER!
I don’t get why she hasn’t released an album since 2001 (“Living Proof”), but If anybody can reclaim the top of the charts and prove they are still viable it’s Cher, who afterall scored her first #1 in years at age 53! Cher, where oh where are you?June 21, 2012 at 4:19 pm #381712

But none of them should bother releasing if they won’t put out.June 21, 2012 at 7:23 pm #381714
LL Cool J
FergieJune 21, 2012 at 7:27 pm #381715
TLC! TLC ! TLC! It’s been a long time and I as a fan can live with them making an album w/out Left-Eye. The last two albums (fanmail, 3d) didn’t feature her heavily at all and were still fantastic albums.
I’m ready for a more matrue T-Boz and Chili to release new material!
Alicia Keys hasn’t released an album since 2009, that can’t be right? Girl get in the studio!June 21, 2012 at 8:19 pm #381716
BeyonceJune 22, 2012 at 6:32 am #381717
Shania Twain is also WAYY over-due to release some new material. It’s been 10 years since UP! Which is just crazy.
I second this and to me the Up CD is her best so far.
I look foward to new albums from LeAnn Rimes and Tanya Tucker.
God bless you and them and Shania always!!!
Holly (a day one fan of LeAnn)

Lily Allen is actually working on new music again. Quite a short retirement, since it’s only been 3 years since her last record. But I can’t wait for her to be back.
New Lauryn Hill will never happen. Every now and then a new rumor pops up that she’s working on new music, but uhuh ain’t gonna happen. I gave up on that one.
Janelle Monae should better put one of her two announced projects out ASAP. Why doesn’t she use the tiny moment in the spotlight with fun. to introduce her own material to a bigger audience.June 22, 2012 at 5:10 pm #381719
Yeah Yeah Yeahs****
I’m also dying for some new Beyonce and Gaga, but they aren’t really overdue.June 22, 2012 at 6:12 pm #381720
Beyonce to me is somebody that needs to take a break, It feels like she hasn’t stopped releasing material for over a decade. Just for the sake of her sanity she needs to stop working for like a minuet.June 22, 2012 at 6:41 pm #381721
Honey, Christina Aguilera is doing stunts and shows. This is the perfect time for her to release a new single. A new album should drop in August or September. I’m almost over it.June 22, 2012 at 7:00 pm #381722
Led Zeppelin (haven’t released a pop album since Coda in 1982) – yes, I realize that they are defunct, as the passing of John Bonham marked the end of Zeppelin as a group, but when the group briefly reunited for a concert in 2007, with Bonham’s son on drums, I must say I was a little hopeful that it would be more than just a one-time stint, perhaps with a new album and a tour to promote it (or vice versa 😉
Billy Joel (hasn’t released a pop album since River of Dreams in 1993) – I suppose Billy Joel has “retired” from recording new music, but the man still tours, has recorded a classical album in 2001, and has done a one-off iTunes single called “All My Life” in 2007. If Billy Joel has been writing any songs at all since his retirement nearly 20 years ago, I’m sure he may have a stockpile of songs just waiting to be recorded.
Pink Floyd (haven’t released an album since The Division Bell in 1994) – Like Zeppelin, the hopes of an all-out Pink Floyd reunion are quite small at this point. They have appeared together for brief reunions in concerts, but never for more than a couple of songs. It seems highly unlikely, but if it were to ever happen (like the Zeppelin idea), it would be a massive seller.
Paul McCartney (hasn’t released a studio album of original material since 2007’s Memory Almost Full) – Yes, he recently released Kisses on the Bottom, his album of standards, but I look forward to his next album of original material (which apparently should be released next year).
U2 (last album was 2009’s No Line on the Horizon) – Although the wait between 2004’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and No Line on the Horizon was longer (nearly 5 years), it still seems like it’s been a long time since they’ve had a new album.
The Rolling Stones (last album was 2005’s A Bigger Bang) – Although I was disappointed with their last album, seven years certainly is a long time, and at the rate they’re going, they probably only have an album or two left in them, if any, and I’d like them to go out with an even bigger bang.
The Police (last album was 1983’s Synchronicity) – A new album with their reunion tour a few years ago would have been nice. Seems unlikely now.
Simon & Garfunkel (last album was 1970’s Bridge Over Troubled Water) – Being reunited in the last few years with a tour put hope into the idea of a new album, but Garfunkel’s vocal cord paresis put the tour and the idea of an album on hold indefinately.
Some other artists I am surprised haven’t released an album in awhile:
Fugees (last album: 1996)
Lauryn Hill (last album: 1998)
Garth Brooks (last album: 2001)
Shania Twain (last album: 2002)
David Bowie (last album: 2003)
Fleetwood Mac (last album: 2003)
George Michael (last album: 2004)
Aerosmith (last album: 2004)
Justin Timberlake (last album: 2006)
Dixie Chicks (last album: 2007)
Pearl Jam (last album: 2009)June 22, 2012 at 8:45 pm #381723
I’m sure it’s never gonna happen as it’s an era past, but I’d kill to see a proper album from Salt-N-Pepa. They were my idols growing up and frankly Pepa could out-rap any of the current day female rappers.
