    Hello

In front of the submitted albums, place your bets here in the category of “Best Alternative Music Album”. Who do you think should be nominated in this category? Take into consideration the new description of the Grammy:

“Alternative is defined as a genre of music that encompasses attributes of progression and innovation both in music and in the attitudes associated with it. It is usually a less intense version of rock or a more intense version of pop, and is usually considered as more original, eclectic or musically challenging, and can span a variety of subgenres or any of their hybrids and may include recordings that do not fit into other categories of gender “

Is this who should be nominated (and win)?

In front of the submitted albums, place your bets here

Or is it who will be nominated/win? Because if it’s the later Jack White has a good chance as does St. Vincent as a previous winner with a highly acclaimed album.

These are two of my personal favourites over the eligibility year.

    St. Vincent, Masseduction
    Beach House, “7”

I don’t think Beach House have ever been nominated. I’m hoping this could change.

I think Beach House might win tbh. Last year, we had previous winners like Gorillaz and LCD Soundsystem nominated, yet The National won.

    1) Björk – Utopia

    2) David Byrne – American Utopia

    3) St Vincent – Masseducation

    4) Jack White – Boarding House Reach

    5) Arctic Monkeys – Tranquility base hotel and casino

She should have won in 2013 and 2016. St Vincent is the frontrunner this year.

Björk needs to be nominated and a fucking win, even tho this is one of her weaker albums but she’s LONG overdue for a Grammy

    I will always love you

Even though I enjoyed the album it’s weird for Utopia of all the albums to be her first to win a Grammy. If it were at least Vulnicura.

Anyway, I would be extremely happy anyway. But my personal favorite this year is St. Vincent.

I wish they had Best Alternative Performance so Björk could win for Blissing Me

I agree! But she still remains my favorite in 2019 with “Utopia.” I also wish a category for alternative performance

    I’m predicting:

    Beck – Colors
    Björk – Utopia
Father John Misty – God’s Favorite Customer
    St. Vincent – Masseduction
Jack White – Boarding House Reach

    Alternates:

Arctic Monkeys – Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino
Courtney Barnett – Tell Me How You Really Feel
    Gorillaz – The Now Now
Nine Inch Nails – Bad Witch

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think they should get rid of this category. Almost everything that gets entered here fits in either Pop or Rock. People like Björk can go to Dance/Electronic, I guess.

well, Björk has some really weird albums like Medulla, Biophilia, Vulnicura and Utopia where you can’t really find a place to label it because it’s too different. In general she would have entenred in dance/electronic. But now she’s using classical music and messing everything up. Only if folktronica was a thing and could find a field for it she would slay there!
