Cardi B, Bruno Mars and another “big artist” planning to release a new song on January 25. This is a potential opening performance waiting to happen. https://pagesix.com/2019/01/04/cardi-b-is-dropping-another-song-with-bruno-mars/
I think is Mrs Sheeran, they all Atlantic. Cardi loves collaborating with newbies tho so it may be someone we don’t knowJanuary 5, 2019 at 8:47 am #1202719436
Mild? Like separating from your husband publicly while he stalks you and gifts you expensive stuff, and then get caught with him in Puerto Rico because you (and I quote) “wanted to fuck”? Or like the Nicki feud, or whatever feud homegirl gets into. Cardi B’s too controversial for voters. She could easily lose all of her noms. Gaga for the opening.
I find it hilarious that you would say this, especially considering that you throw a tantrum anytime someone suggests that Ariana’s personal life will be a disadvantage to her Grammy chances, which I disagree with.
Cardi B is not too “controversial” for the Grammy’s, otherwise she wouldn’t have bagged 5 nominations this year. 4 of which were committee pics. She’s very energetic onstage, (I’ve seen her live), and has decent breath control. She’s by far one of the biggest stars of the Grammy period and tbh is more of a ratings magnet than even Gaga at the moment. With the right stage production and choreography, she can be an amazing opener.
And she’s by far the lock to win Best Rap Album.January 5, 2019 at 8:57 am #1202719447
And frankly, I don’t think you have to be some type of Grammy veteran to open. This past year was absolutely dominated by Hip Hop. What better to celebrate a huge year in the genre than to have a Hip Hop act opening. Cardi B or even Travis Scott would be great. Both are extremely relevant with big hit songs. Cardi can perform Money, which is a great song in my opinion, and this new song she’s releasing with Bruno. If it’s Travis, he can perform an Astroworld melody that would include Sicko Mode.
The Grammys are already struggling as it is with ratings and Hip Hop has a ton of fans. Nobody wants a Lady Gaga performance for generic pop/country ballad that sounds like Grammy bait.January 5, 2019 at 1:16 pm #1202719864

I like Cardi but let’s not be delusional. Gaga had the highest ratings with her superbowl performance with her least successful album. ASIB became the best selling album worldwide of 2018 by a female artist (outselling IOP) only 3 months after its release. And now she has big screen crossover, which is even more important for ratings. Gotta respect that, how many artists found success both in music and in acting? Last example I can think of is Cher many decades ago.
You stans are delusional sometimes. What’s next, I’m waiting to hear that Cardi is better than Beyoncé live lol..
She’s a good new artist. But let’s not put her on the same level of the greats; artists who managed to remain relevant and successful for 10years+ (Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna etc..)January 5, 2019 at 1:26 pm #1202719875

If it came down to Hip Hop then last year should’ve had the highest rating. It had the lowest in recent history. Why? Actual ratings-magnet Adele wasn’t attending!

Ratings are going to continue going down no matter what. Nobody watches TV anymore.January 5, 2019 at 1:46 pm #1202719885
To be fair, the ratings were hovering around 24-28 million the past few years. Only last year it dropped significantly:
28.3 million in 2013,
28.5 in 2014
25.3 in 2015
24.9 in 2016
26.1 in 2017
19.8 in 2018January 5, 2019 at 2:01 pm #1202719896
Honey, if Lady Gaga opens, I will be changing the channel. BARF!January 5, 2019 at 2:19 pm #1202719905
I love Adele but I don’t think she was the reason why rating were high that year, at least not her performance. I assume people did tune in to watch the Adele vs Beyoncé AOTY battle though.January 5, 2019 at 2:30 pm #1202719912
When will we know for sure who’s going to open The Grammys? Any specific date?January 5, 2019 at 2:36 pm #1202719921

Last year they started announcing performers since very early January, but I’m not sure when they announce the opening act. I’m guessing soon we will know who’s performing.January 5, 2019 at 2:40 pm #1202719929
Kendrick was announced a little over a week before the show last year.January 5, 2019 at 8:29 pm #1202720266
