I don’t think a country act will get in sad thing is I don’t know any of the CMA nominees for BNA. The only hope for country in the GF is Miranda Lambert in AotY.

You must not listen to country on the radio then because the four male nominees are all over it.

God bless you and them always!!!

Cole Swindell is the country act with the strongest chance of receiving a Best New Artist nomination.

I listen to country music I’ve know really all the winners of the CMA BNA just not this year all male country singers are all sounding the same now a days. Theres been no stand out like Hunter Hays or Kacey Musgraves this year.

They always seem to go with diversity in Best New Artisit

Rap/R&B (Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis, Frank Ocean, J Cole, Drake)
Country (Kacey Musgraves, Hunter Hayes, The Band Perry)
Pop (Ed Sheeran, fun., Nicki Manaj (debatable), Justin Bieber)
Alternative/Rock (James Blake, The Lumineers, Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons)
And then the wild card pick meaning any genre could be duplicated (Kendrick Lamar, Alabama Shakes, Skrillex, Florence + the Machine)

But obviously some of these people could fit mulitple spots like fun., Nicki, Macklemore, and Ed Sheeran on the genre pool but anyways. It just seems like they want to honor who ever was the best in each genre

I just listened to FKA Twigs. Yasssss! I think she’s too under the radar to be nominated, but she’s sparked my curiosity for sure.

Sam Smith. This is the closet thing to a lock in the GF. Competition for this category is weak, even though new artists have had chart success they have made little cultural impact. Sam Smith is safe, talented, and has broad appeal. It’s interesting the variety of winners this category has had the past few years. You can’t really predict based off genre, but Sam is the obvious choice here. Compared to fun. and Macklemore the other pop names being thrown around for this year don’t really compare.

I think that they will give it to Sam Smith for his talent alone. They tend to do that with vocalists like Christina and Mariah but so-so material
