Basically, for the last few years (because if we go back, we have to go back ages), who would’ve been nominated to the GF categories without a panel? Would the winners have changed?
I’m asking out of curiosity. I have some ideas myself, but I’m fairly new to the Grammys, so I’m still learning and I’m curious to see other people’s opinions on this.
ETA: keeping the number of nominees as it was for every year, btw. So if it was 5 then 5, if it was 8, then 8, and so on.

February 7, 2023 at 1:29 pm #1205296363Just doing 2021 because it’s what I remember from the top of my head:
AOTY: Fiona, Harry, Abel and Brittany would’ve made it. Fiona would’ve won.
ROTY: Adore You, Blinding Lights and Shameika. I still think Billie would’ve won but maybe Abel (I know he didn’t make it into the Pop categories but it would help the narrative for him to pull through).
SOTY: Adore You, Blinding Lights and Shameika again. No one was ever beating H.E.R.
BNA: Genuinely don’t know, it’s the worst category to predict with or without a panel. Maybe Pop Smoke? Megan would also win.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 7, 2023 at 1:51 pm #1205296406I do think Abel would’ve won ROTY in 2021, and I said the same thing about Fiona in another thread.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 7, 2023 at 9:52 pm #12052969192021 would look like this I think
AOTY: Taylor or Fiona, leaning towards Taylor
ROTY and SOTY: H.E.R.
BNA: Megan

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 8, 2023 at 3:48 am #1205297048The committee mostly affects nominees, less so winners unless a potential winner misses out in the nominations.
The Weeknd in SOTY and ROTY with Blinding Lights in 2021 is the most obvious one.
For the 2014 awards, Lorde probably would have won BNA over Macklemore if nominated, since she was able to beat him in SOTY.
The most difficult ones to predict are where a snubbed nominee would have split the votes, but perhaps not won.
One or more additional rock/alternative nominees in 2015 could have been interesting, and perhaps Beck wouldn’t have won AOTY, but would that mean Beyonce wins? Perhaps it could have been Pharrell, who was able to beat Beyonce in her own genre.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 9, 2023 at 3:52 pm #1205340566For 2022 Grammys:
AOTY: Tony Bennett/Lady Gaga would’ve won simply because he was retiring.
SOTY: Billie, Olivia, or H.E.R would’ve won
ROTY: Billie, Tony/Gaga, or ABBA would’ve won
BNA: Olivia or Finneas

Pharrell also won in the pop categories over Sam Smith as well. Girl would’ve taken Album and Happy (Live) would’ve taken Record as well.
