After seeing the submissions I cant help but think one of these artist will completely shut out Grammy night. Do you guys agree or disagree ? Discuss…..October 18, 2014 at 5:37 pm #403240
Both won’t be happy, but I think Katy will be the one nominated. I don’t think Grande will be nominated because I don’t think NARAS respects her as an artist and still thinks of her as a teeny-bop Nick/Disney kid. Katy will get nominated in Pop Vocal Album and Pop Duo/Group and will lose in both.October 18, 2014 at 7:14 pm #403241
Ariana. The Grammys love Katy Perry for some reason.

I think both will get nominations, but Ariana is more vulnerable than Katy, who has a decent track record as far as nominations.October 18, 2014 at 7:33 pm #403243
Grande in my opinion is not getting any nominations. The only chance she had was in New artist but as we know now she is not eligible.October 18, 2014 at 7:38 pm #403244
As far as nominations, I think Ariana has a decent chance in Pop Group for “Problem”, a small chance in Pop Group for “Bang Bang” and a very small chance in Pop Album. Katy has a strong chance in Pop Group and Pop Vocal Album, and general field nominations are possibilities. Neither will win anything.October 18, 2014 at 8:17 pm #403245
I’m starting to think they will both get one nomination each in Pop Duo/Group.October 19, 2014 at 1:11 am #403246
Katy Perry will get her usual two nominations.
Ariana Grande may get snubbed. She faces stiff competition for nominations in Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.October 19, 2014 at 11:06 am #403247
I think both will get in both categories, get nowhere near the general field this time and come out empty handed. I do think Ariana stands a bit of a better chance than most assume she does, just because her singles have been really, really successful, but I also woudn’t be surprised to see her snubbed again.October 19, 2014 at 11:47 am #403248
I agree that the Pop duo/group category is packed, but i have a strong feeling that if they accept Iggy Azalea then Ariana should get in too. Problem was 3rd on billboard’s Songs of the Summer chart and that song was released in late april and did pretty successfully before the summer even started. I also think that since Iggy azalea is on the song, if they are going to vote for iggy already this will only help because this song really impacted iggy’s career along with Fancy by saying that she was on two of the top songs this year. I also think Bang Bang has a chance just because I personally really enjoy the vocals on the song, and i think Jessie J deserves a nomination that people will notice (she was nominated last year for song written for visual media). I also believe Grande has a chance at pop album (and maybe AOTY if she really has a good night) becuase her album really is a diverse album with a lot of different sounds on it and since she had some pretty good success more recently wtih Break Free. I think that everyone is saying that since she wasn’t embraced last year, we shouldn’t expect much from her. I agree that that is possible, but I also think that it is possible that she could be embraced more this year becuase they missed her last year. Most in the media agree that grande is talented and has a great voice so people would support her nominations.
As far as Katy Perry goes, Dark Horse was a smash hit earlier this year and was able to survive a little bit into the summer, and they love her, so she is definitly getting nominated in he pop duo/group if not in ROTY. I think she has a really good shot at pop album as well.October 19, 2014 at 1:26 pm #403249
I think Ariana Grande will be as happy as she was the morning the American Music Awards nominations were announced.
Her only chance is in Pop Duo/Group but that category is super-competitive this year.October 19, 2014 at 3:07 pm #403250
I could see Ariana Grande sneaking into Pop Album. She’s had a bigger year than almost all of the contenders and I can see her getting the 5th slot over Coldplay, Maroon 5 and Sia.October 19, 2014 at 5:31 pm #403251
I think Ariana will be completely snubbed. Katy Perry is the Grammys parasite that won’t ever go away.October 20, 2014 at 1:09 pm #403252
Katy has a better shot considering her track record of nominations per year. Even though Prism was a very inconsistent era, she still managed to go Platinum and produced 2 #1 singles.
Ariana is still relatively new so she’ll breakthrough eventually. Unfortunately there’s too much competition in the Pop categories (especially Pop Group or Duo).
