Haven’t the Grammy Awards traditionally been handed in mid to late February or early March? Why the sudden change to the end of January this year? Is there a particular reason for this change?

I think they’ve done this before in Olympic Games years. Something to do with TV program changes.

The Oscars got moved to when the Grammys are usually announced so the Grammys also had to move their date up.

so the Oscars decides the dates

Chromatica: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album.

Rain On Me: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Music Video.

    Alice: Best Pop Solo Performance

All Hollywood award giving bodies adjust to Oscars awards itinerary including the BAFTAs and the Grammys. Everyone else considered the Oscars as the final awards shindig to prevent exhaustion.

I wouldn’t go that far, but obviously Oscar Night is out of the question, as is Super Bowl Sunday. AMPAS didn’t want to hold the Oscars on Washington’s Birthday weekend, so I assume the Recording Academy didn’t either, so if they still wanted a February date, that left 2/23. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Democratic primary/caucus schedule has something to do with this as well; 2/23 is the day after the Nevada caucuses.
