It seems like Mariah is pulling all the stops this year for her legendary song to finally top the charts this holiday season! Do you guys think this is a possibility and will Mimi achieve her 19th #1 hit? Her first number #1 of the 2010s? If she were to achieve this would it cement her as the greatest artist of all time. To chart a 20 year old song?

It would be incredible for Mimi if this occured, but I’m not convinced it will happen. Would it even count towards her tally if it went to #1 since it is a 20 year old song?November 2, 2019 at 5:38 pm #1203163459
Maybe. The charts are weak right now, and this year seems like an especially Mariah Christmas.

It seems so . She debuted with almost 200K More streams on the Spotify Global chart compared to last year and managed to get to the Top 50 on iTunes very fast. This reissue of the Christmas album will most likely gain my attention towards December. She made it towards the top 3 last year . I think it could happen . If she’s clear with no new artists releasing anything.

I think it can happen, and it’ll be an awesome moment if Mimi can pull it off.November 2, 2019 at 6:24 pm #1203163500
I am hearing rumors that Adele and Rihanna are releasing at the end of the year. That can be a huge problem for her.November 2, 2019 at 10:58 pm #1203163632
No I am sick of this song.November 3, 2019 at 1:19 am #1203163677This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.November 3, 2019 at 1:53 am #1203163708
If the charts remain this weak (which I doubt since Adele & Rihanna are scheduled to release) then yes.
Would be cool if she went #1 – she’d have a #1 across three consecutive decades.November 3, 2019 at 2:26 am #1203163726
I do think so, it would be a iconic moment and a new Record for her since this year Lil Nas made for his own
I dont believe about Adele releasing a single this year and Rihanna isn’t unbeatableNovember 3, 2019 at 3:46 am #1203163744
Get real! Mariah Carey will NOT ever hit #1 again. Her time been up.
She reached #3 last year with 2 days of tracking after December 25th and when Thank U Next and Without Me were at their commercial peaks. She was barely, if ever at all, promoting the song beyond her European tour.
She’s doing a heavy promotional campaign this year (which has already gone viral 2 days in). The song’s sales and streaming figures have hit an all-time high based on past numbers at this time of year. She definitely has a strong chance of going #1 this year and extending her record!
If she does end up going #1 this year: it’d be a monumental statement against sexism, ageism (and even racism) in the music industry – she’d be the oldest female artist since Cher (and the oldest black female artist) to top the Hot 100.It could potentially pave a way for older “legacy” artists to to retain chart longevity beyond their commercial heyday. Expect a lot of think-pieces on her!November 3, 2019 at 3:53 am #1203163751This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.
