Since we already have a Best topic for this, I’ve started a Worst one.

I’ll Start: Bette Midler winning back-to-back SOTY awards. Also, Natalie Cole’s “Unforgettable” winning ROTY and SOTY over R.E.M’s “Losing My Religion”.

Lol in before this thread gets closed.

But Just this year Billie Eyelish sweeping the general field, absolutely no reason for that to happen. Give her album of the Year but Bad Guy is an atrocious song, easily the worst on her album and of the ones nominated this year. The likes of Lana De Rey for “Norman F**kin Rockwell”, Taylor for “Lover” And the best of all Tanya Tucker for “Bring My Flowers Now” were way more deserving for their incredible songs. Billie sweeping made the Im entire Grammy 2020 Night a complete dull, absolute waste of time and just plain reductive. Lizzo also should have won for BNA.

    FYC: Taylor Swift

There’s a lot of them. Lana losing SOTY is the most recent.

Will Smith’s “Men In Black” beating out “The Rain,” “Hypnotize” and “Put Your Hands Where My I Could See” in Best Rap Solo Performance of 1997 comes to mind. Completely undeserved.

Pharell’s live version of “Happy” over Sia’s classic “Chandelier” is nauseating

To me, “In Color” should’ve been named Best Country Song in early 2009 instead of “Stay”.

God bless you and the “In Color” songwriters always!!!

Another one I just thought of: “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” winning ROTY and SOTY instead of “Fast Car”(Seriously, what were they thinking?).

ALBUM OF THE YEAR – 1985

Can’t Slow Down – Lionel Richie – WINNER
She’s So Unusual – Cyndi Lauper
Purple Rain – Prince & The Revolution
Born in the U.S.A. – Bruce Springsteen
    Private Dancer – Tina Turner

I can see how Lionel Richie won, but my pick would have been either Tina Turner for the sweep of the big categories or Prince.

Why? Besides, Beautiful Day was easily the best song of that lineup and was a lock for that category.
