Was Liam robbed?March 22, 2013 at 12:45 pm #543343
I honestly don’t know what to think of this race anymore. I am a big fan of Tom Hanks and always loved him and the film but lately I have begun to question whether or not I’d vote for him or perhaps Neeson or Hopkins.
I will have to ponder this one.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantMarch 22, 2013 at 2:10 pm #543344
Was Liam robbed?
Hell yes!March 22, 2013 at 2:38 pm #543345
The oscar shouldve gone to Mr DDL….he was the best..
Hanks won because of the role and subject matter….
Neeson is a bad actor and a better actor would easily have won…
One of Hopkins greatest performances..but he had just won 2 yrs earlier..
Fishburne was happy to be on the list…March 22, 2013 at 4:32 pm #543346

Liam Neeson was robbed here. Not to mention Robin Williams should’ve been nominated for Mrs. DoubtfireMarch 22, 2013 at 8:26 pm #543348
5. HanksMarch 23, 2013 at 8:41 am #543349
Hopkins is just SO perfect! But this line-up was pretty great!March 23, 2013 at 10:44 am #543350
Daniel Day-Lewis just barely over Liam Neeson. DDL is just so powerful in In the Name of the Father.March 23, 2013 at 6:22 pm #543351
Laurence Fishburne.September 14, 2013 at 9:58 pm #543352
As much I love Hanks, Neeson really should have won Best Actor in 1993.September 15, 2013 at 7:43 am #543353
I’ve never heard mch support for him in this category before. I’ve always had him down as something of an after thought.
1 – Hopkins (Easily)
2 – DDL
3 – Fishburne
4 – Neeson
5 – HanksJuly 28, 2014 at 2:42 am #543354
Hanks was alright, Neeson was mediocre and the others were good but not great
This award should have gone to David Thewlis for his amazing performance in NakedMarch 17, 2015 at 5:33 am #543355
I think this one is very hard.
When I was younger, I always opted for Tom Hanks because I was such a huge fan of him and I thought the film was good and very moving….and while I do think the fact the role helped him win, I think it was also a very good performance in its own right. I think Tom Hanks deserves at least one if not two Oscars but the combination should have come from Big and/or Cast Away and had he been nominated for Captain Phillips, he would have strongly contended for my vote.
Liam Neeson was also good in Schindler’s List, but I also feel an even stronger actor would have ran straight to Oscar with it because that role also was an extremely important one.
Laurence Fishburne’s nomination seems strange among this lineup. Despite being my last place choice, I found him to be very good in the role though I wouldn’t have nominated him.
Daniel Day-Lewis and Anthony Hopkins were both in top form, and this is probably one of DDL’s least-talked about performances nowadays.
For right now, I cast my vote for Anthony Hopkins. He deserved it in 1991 and also here as well….but ask me tomorrow and it may be DDL or Hanks.
