I am torn between Gray, De Niro and Robards (Julia)
never liked Walken though Deer Hunter is one of my favourite movies

Loved Gray and Johnson; am not a negative critic of Mills. Houseman, so wry; Robards, perfection; Douglas, always good; Burns, ’bout time; DeNiro, mind=blowing;  enjoyed every performance up there. But it’s no contest for me. Chris Walken gives one of the best perfs in the history of supporting actors.

What a bland list. GREY, DE NIRO, and WALKEN battle it out for me.

I will give it to WALKEN. A very haunting performance. Grey is 2nd (such an iconic and delicious performance), with De Niro 3rd.

Walken. The only thing that keeps me from loving De Niro’s win is the knowledge that Cazale didn’t even get a chance to compete. He would’ve been my choice in 1974, though it would have been a tight race between him and the young Vito.

    1) Christopher Walken
    2) Robert De Niro
    3) Joel Grey
    4) Ben Johnson
    5) Jason Robards (All the President’s Men)
    6) Jason Robards (Julia)
    7) Melvyn Douglas
    8) John Mills
    9) George Burns
    10) John Houseman
