From this random list, which show do you think deserved more general attention from the Emmys over the years from the more prominent categories?June 24, 2014 at 9:47 am #548444
HIMYMJune 24, 2014 at 9:53 am #548445
My heart says HIMYM or Scrubs, both of which received tons of hype and never really caught on with the Emmys. However, I remember “Everybody Hates Chris” being a big deal, especially after its GG nod, but it didn’t get a single Emmy that first great season before going down in quality in its later seasonsJune 24, 2014 at 10:53 am #548446
Scrubs definitely deserved supporting nominations for Sarah Chalke, Ken Jenkins, Donald Faison and the hilarious Sam LloydJune 24, 2014 at 10:54 am #548447
The Middle. It is so underrated. It is one of the most realistic and relatable shows on TV. Patrica Heaton is hilarious and so is the rest of the cast. Neil Flynn is great as the dad and all the kids are great. The writing is so good too.June 24, 2014 at 11:07 am #548448
I would say Parks and Rec.
FYC: Ready Player One. Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Original Score, Production Design, Director and BEST PICTURE (make it happen Oscars!!)June 24, 2014 at 11:11 am #548449
The Middle had an electric first season, where I thought Patricia Heaton definitely deserved a comedy actress nomination, but since then, it’s become a bit of a chore to watch it and it’s —- like all great comedies —- become a more over the top, ridiculous version of what it once was. The first season was real, subtle and honest. Now it’s all big colors, broad comedy etc etc… But I think Heaton gives such a stellar performance overall, so different from her Raymond performance. She deserved to be even a lone nominee for each of the show’s seasons, like Poehler for P&R, in fact I think she could have won once possibly – she had the tapes to back that upJune 24, 2014 at 11:12 am #548450
Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel were robbed of emmy nominations! I think Graham got two sag nominations? At least she got something. Patricia Heaton and Eden Sher have been robbed! Nothing for either! All because abc refuses to spend one dime on anything but MF. Like emmy voters wouldnt watch anything on wb as inferior it refuses now to watch a Heaton show because of politics as well.June 24, 2014 at 12:13 pm #548451
Really random list. I´d say none of them of the save for:
HIMYM deserved best series the first four seasons, and definitely direcing nominations here and there. I like the cast, but the lack of cominations for them doesn´t kill me.
The Middle definitely deserved nominations for Sher Mcdermott and Heaton. Maybe one or two series nods, but mostly because of the lack of great comedies…
Assuming the thread is only comedy, why on earth is parks and rec not there??? That would be number 1 without a question…June 24, 2014 at 1:45 pm #548452
The Middle is surprisingly refreshing and very funny.June 24, 2014 at 2:53 pm #548453
Kept going back and forth between HIMYM and Scrubs. HIMYM highs might just be a little bit higher than Scrubs, but scrubs was able to more consistently impress me and last much longer than HIMYM without nearly as signficant a quality drop (season 9 of scrubs doesn’t count, that was a spinoff, everyone agree???) Both should have gotten multiple series noms, and both had cast members snubbed. But while HIMYM shouldve gotten Smulders and Radnor for some of their seasons in addition to Harris, Scrubs should have been able to get noms and sometimes even wins for Sarah Chalke, John McGinley, Ken Jenkins, Neill Flynn, Christa Miller, and probably more that I can’t think of. HIMYM shouldve done better at the mmys but scrubs shouldve done much betterJune 24, 2014 at 7:14 pm #548454
I love HIMYM and Scrubs but if we’re talking about lack of respect, it had to be The Middle. They both had nominations for Best Series, while The Middle never got anything.

Of the ones listed in the poll, I’ll go with How I Met Your Mother. In general though, The Wire and Arrested Development were both really undervalued by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and currently I’m annoyed at the fact that Hannibal has now been ignored twice.
