There are shows on television that almost always make me laugh, but a lot of times are criticized about being lame or something silly. These comedies are a lot of times overlooked or hated or sometimes just not noticed. What are your thoughts? I mean even Suburgatory was snubbed by the snubee awards.August 15, 2012 at 10:59 am #539330
I will have to say Hot in Cleveland and Family Guy.
Hot in Cleveland, while sometimes does have bad episodes, is a much better show than people give it credit for. The cast works amazingly well together, and brighten up even the worst episodes.
Family Guy is also an amazingly funny show. Yes it has decreased in quality since premiering, but even the best shows do. It is still amazing and, even after more than 10 years on the air, still come up with fresh, never-before-used ideas for new episodes.August 15, 2012 at 12:45 pm #539331
I would say ‘The Middle’ and ‘Suburgatory’ are pretty underrated comedies, which excel in almost every part.August 16, 2012 at 5:29 am #539332

Hot in Cleveland. Getting 2 nominations this year at the emmy’s when it should have gotten 5-6August 21, 2012 at 5:09 pm #539334
The thing I don’t like about polls… I have to choose from a list that someone else makes up, not from what I would want to choose. I don’t watch any of those comedies, therefore, I would pick Nurse Jackie and Wilfred.November 1, 2012 at 2:04 pm #539335
The problem is that these are all main-stream shows that get an audience. Try picking a cable series or a show that gets almost no mention by awards and/or the press and/or the everyday average joe. Also, Nurse Jackie is only borderline comedy series. More of a drama, pseudo-comedy or blackcomedy maybe?November 1, 2012 at 2:05 pm #539336

Based on the awards attention that 30 Rock and to a lesser extent, The Office, has received, I’d say I can send my vote elsewhere….though I do feel The Office did deserve more awards notice towards the show and to the cast.
FAMILY GUY has gotten really weak the past few years. The 2010-2011 season was very weak, but the 2011-2012 season was a huge improvement, then the current season has kind of slipped again….but I am sucker for the “cut-away, pop-culture, random bits” that they do.
HOT IN CLEVELAND is not the most amazing show to grace the TV airways but it can create some hilarious episodes, and normally I think it all comes down to Wendie Malick, who is the one that really carries the show and should be receiving nominations and/or awards from every major TV Award committee under the sun.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and NEW GIRL are also really good shows, though I think NEW GIRL is starting to get more attention now.December 15, 2012 at 3:34 pm #539339
Nurse Jackie has gotten better with each season. 30 Rock has had a resurgance. Some people still stupidly dismiss Cougar Town. WIlfred is good stuff. Hot in Cleveland is a decent time filling sitcom.
The Middle and Suburgatory get the credit they deserve. They just don’t have a great deal of buzz or award nominations.
Family Guy has run out of steam. So has How Met Your Mother.December 18, 2012 at 9:19 pm #539340
Cougar Town. The title of the show killed any chance it had at achieving long-term attention. It didn’t hit its stride until mid way through the first season, by then the bulk of the audience had already gone.
