Which performance do you think deserves to win Best Actor at the 88th Academy Awards?
1. Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs
2. Matt Damon, The Martian
3. Bryan Cranston, Trumbo
4. Eddie Redmayne, The Danish Girl
I haven’t seen The Revenant yet.January 14, 2016 at 4:48 pm #551272
I have seen The Revenant, and I am a big DiCaprio fan. And I know he is going to win this year. But out of his most recent nominations, The Revenant is his least impressive performance. I thought Michael Fassbender and Bryan Cranston’s work was superior and more deserving of the Best Actor Oscar this year.January 14, 2016 at 6:19 pm #551273
If Fassbender played Steve Jobs right to his death he most likely would have won over Leo.
Leo isn’t winning for his performance just more to finally give it to him and shut the public up about it… Like when Al Pacino won for Scent of a WomenJanuary 20, 2016 at 5:26 am #551274
Having seen The Revenant, I would say that a DiCaprio win would be deserving and I won’t argue with him finally winning this year. But, if I had a ballot, I would go with Matt Damon.January 20, 2016 at 9:22 pm #551275
Obviously, not that strong a year, but here goes.
1) Michael Fassbender
2) Leonardo DiCaprio
3) Matt Damon
4) Bryan Cranston
5) Eddie Redmayne
I’ll be pretty happy when DiCaprio wins, but I’d say that Fassbender’s work kept me captivated more than anyone else nominated this year. Damon is pretty fun in his role, though something about the film around him felt just a little too slight to really resonate with me. As glad as I am to call Bryan Cranston an Academy Award-nominated actor, his performance is extremely mannered in a very superficial way, and it feels like he never fully immerses himself into the actual character. And Eddie Redmayne I just found very uninteresting all throughout his film.January 20, 2016 at 11:31 pm #551276
Leo. Not as great as some of his Other roles, but given the weak pool of nominees he deserves it for sureJanuary 20, 2016 at 11:31 pm #551277
If Andrew Garfield or Michael Keaton were in this category like they deserved, we might have an interesting raceJanuary 21, 2016 at 1:39 am #551278
Eddie’s felt very layered, at least to me; like a million thoughts were going through his head at any moment on screen. That made for a very interesting performance, imho. I’d go with that one.January 21, 2016 at 3:12 am #551279
Definitely easy to split these into two groups.
1. Leonardo DiCaprio – The Revenant
2. Michael Fassbender – Steve Jobs
3. Matt Damon – The Martian
4. Bryan Cranston – Trumbo
5. Eddie Redmayne – The Danish GirlJanuary 21, 2016 at 11:43 am #551280
Michael B. Jordan
Will SmithJanuary 21, 2016 at 12:06 pm #551281
Leonardo all the way. Not his least viable performance at all. I’d put it close to the top personally. But’s that’s me.January 27, 2016 at 7:50 pm #551282
The most lacklustre group of nominees ever. I’m abstaining from voting and am going to say anyone but Redmayne.
