Brandon
Christina Rae
Alan Silva
Bad Salsa
Broken Roots
Brett LoudermilkTwo problems with Loudermilk. First, I think he does most of his stunts outdoors, and second, I don’t think they have ever had somebody not in the top 10 be in the Vegas show.

Bini the Bunn: WeirdJune 30, 2021 at 11:57 am #1204324762A few thoughts:
Were there any actual audiences there? I see in the credits that they use a combination of actual, virtual, and prerecorded audiences, but did any of the acts perform in front of anybody besides the judges?
The Sklar Brothers – I know there is precedent for letting “established performers” on the show – The Pendragons come to mind – but I am not a fan of this, especially as I can think of two TV shows they have pretty much starred in (The Oblongs, and ESPN’s Cheap Seats).
I realize none of the judges were there when QuickChange performed, but I question the wisdom of anybody giving a quick change artist a Golden Buzzer; I would have expected somebody to want to see her perform again, if for no other reason than to make sure every performance is not just a variation of the first one.
You are never going to convince me that Howie giving Tory Vagasy a “no” wasn’t a setup of some sort.
Wait…there’s a seventh Golden Buzzer this year? Does this mean only 27 others will be told that they advance from callbacks, or that there will be only two wild cards from callbacks this season?
ReplyCopy URLJuly 14, 2021 at 8:09 am #1204346011Time to bring back one of my earlier suggestions:
New rule needed – if you were ever a “celebrity” or performer on an NBC show, you are not eligible for AGT. First it was the Penndragons, and now Michael Winslow, who appeared on quite a few episodes of NBC’s Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour.
ReplyCopy URLJuly 21, 2021 at 8:12 am #1204355930Anybody else reading this thread?
Question of the day: were there “callbacks,” or weren’t there? They didn’t end with scenes of contestants being told that they were or weren’t advancing (just one or two receiving what appeared to be Golden Buzzer buttons in boxes, presumably indicating that they had advanced), so I am presuming that there were still too many COVID-19 problems to justify flying the acts back out west an additional time.
At least this year, we don’t have to worry about “wild cards” – at least, not in the quarter-finals (and not unless an invited act has to pull out at the last second).
There is one small problem with the live shows: according to the recent Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Public Order, as of 7/18, everybody at an “indoor public gathering” (including a theater) must wear a mask. The way I read the order, the performers are exempt, at least while performing – but I am not so sure about the judges or Terry.

The number of viewsgoes up but we r the only ones commenting. But it’s a prediction center show so I assume it will pick up as it goes live
ReplyCopy URLJuly 21, 2021 at 11:03 am #1204356269Question of the day: were there “callbacks,” or weren’t there?
Apparently, there were not. According to That Great Source Of Unquestioned Wisdom, Wikipedia, Simon decided to do it the way it’s done on Britain’s Got Talent and have the decisions for the live shows made straight from the auditions.
I can see the benefits of this, but it also penalizes the acts where it would be nice to know that the act won’t be the same thing over and over again – for example, with an act involving pets, can the pets do anything other than what they did in the initial audition?

The Canine StarsAugust 10, 2021 at 9:12 pm #1204391010Please, please, please, pleasepleaseplease, please, did I mention “please,” please tell me that they didn’t just retcon Nightbirde’s performance out of the season. For those of you who don’t know, Jane “Nightbirde” Marcezwski got Simon’s golden buzzer, but had to withdraw because she has to concentrate on fighting her cancer. How did AGT handle it? By letting the viewers select a “wild card”…but only by saying, “There are supposed to be 36 acts, but the judges could only agree on 35!”

The wildcard is clearly going to be either Matt Mauser or Patrick Kun. They seem to have a lot of support

Well, they not only mentioned her on the results show, but they interviewed her as well, so she wasn’t exactly “erased,” although they didn’t mention the wild card vote again.
However, they did mention that the “live show” is going to be a “permanent” thing. It’s strange that somebody on the show mentioned the MGM Grand, as the Luxor website says that it will be there, 2 shows a night, 5 nights a week.
