Wow. A lot of audition cities.

IMO, I think they need to change the judges. I know all of them are coming back but I think they should chuck Luke Bryan and give Katy Perry a huge slice of humble pie and make it not all about her. Lionel is fine to keep as he is the only judge that actually doesn’t at least a little bit suck.

If it were up to me, I would try and bring back one of the original three judges. Probably not Simon as he has his hands full but Randy and Paula ain’t doing much so I would definitely bring one of them back. Also please for the love of God, do not have all the judges just sing the praises of every contestant as it just ruins them and “spoils” them. There is a reason why the contestants from Season 13 to now have done dick on the charts. They need a strict Simon Cowell-esque judge to put some realism and sanity back in the judging panel, as well as it just makes the show just all the more entertaining to watch.

I will still watch American Idol season 17 as I made a pact that I would watch the show until the day I die and I have an American Idol Wiki that I manage so yeah. But all I ask is for the effing judges to smarten up.

Also even though I am Canadian, my dream is to one day audition for the show. Since it’s going to Seattle (the U.S. city closest to where I currently live) this year, I may consider it but I am going to be 24 and only have four years left to audition for one of my favourite shows.

FYC: Ready Player One. Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Original Score, Production Design, Director and BEST PICTURE (make it happen Oscars!!)

This is their “bus tour” (well, tours, as there are three of them) system. There is also an online audition process.

As for competing, you have to be a “legal U.S. Resident with an unrestricted right to work” for whatever length of contract the Producers force you to sign. (I assume this means the same as it does in SYTYCD; a citizen, a “green card” holder, or someone with an unrestricted work visa.)

Speaking of eligibility, while the Top 10 from Season 16 are ineligible to return, there does not appear to be any restriction on how well someone did on any of the Fox seasons, although obviously everyone who was eligible in the earliest seasons would be too old by now.

Something else I noticed: if you can prove that you signed a management contract before your first appearance in front of the judges, you are not subject to being forced to sign an exclusive management contract with the show’s producers.

I think they should replace Perry … she was so stupid on the show and didn’t bring anything to the show , i understand she is a big name in music but she isnt a good singer and after her inappropriateness with the contestants i think she should be removed and they should persue someone who is relevant but also a good singer … get Ariana Grande or Demi Lovato ….. at least they can sing …

I think Lionel was fine , while i dont love him personally he is a legend … and i think luke filled the country slot eaisely … but just from watching the guest singers i would have rather had Jennifer nettles.

they also should change up the way the show runs… I feel like we spent a bunch of time on singing with groups and when they were in the top 20 and then once we got to ten it finales in two weeks…. i would rather have them go from 10-9-8-7-6 and so on

    AMEN

I felt like I barely got to know what half of them were really about. But yet they felt the urge to show Marcio and his crying and Catie and her quirkiness over and over again in the audition stages and Hollywood week stuff.

A longer season would help audiences “know” contestants like back in the old days. 2 months doesn’t cut it.

Get rid of Katy and Luke. Brought nothing at all to the judging and coddled these contestants far more than they should have. No one can ever replace Simon, but someone more realistic than this. This panel needs an industry insider, for starters. Keep Lionel as the “legend,” I guess. As for the female star, “The Voice” has Kelly and J-Hud. Your move, Carrie.

I feel like they’re going to bring the show back to January this time. It’s still possible to have it return to January on Sundays and Mondays but when its time for the live shows in March they can keep it on Sundays and have Dancing with the Stars return on Monday.

I feel like they’re going to bring the show back to January this time.

They probably are – the main reason they didn’t start in January last year is because of the “five-week break” it would have needed (Super Bowl, Olympics, Oscars). Still, having it on Sundays means that it has to take Oscar night off, since ABC airs it, and also don’t expect a new episode to air against the Super Bowl.

Also, there is information on the tour: the top seven (Gabby Barrett,
Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Jurnee, Maddie Poppe, Catie Turner, and Michael J. Woodard), along with Season 8 winner Kris Allen, and, “in selected cities,” Boy Band winners In Real Life, will perform. Strange that, for a show that supposedly has its strength in the south, there is only one southern city (Memphis) on the tour outside of Texas, but 10 in California.

True. Maybe if they bring it back to January. They’ll air it on Mondays and Tuesdays until March? But then that would mean moving The Bachelor and I don’t know if they would do that.
