I’m surprised there’s not much engagement on this threat. Weird. I guess Reddit is better for this show.

But this season seems sewn up, rightfully, for Jinkx as the winner. She’s slayed all season, she really might be the best winner ever. Deserved!

8. Jaida (despite fumbling, like how she made fun of herself)July 23, 2022 at 7:44 am #1205022610So if we remove the double/triple stars (which are just ridiculous), and the blocks, the final rankings after the challenges are:
1. Jinkx Monsoon = 5 wins
2. Trinity the Tuck = 4 wins
=3. Monét X Change = 3 wins
=3. The Vivienne = 3 wins
=5. Jaida Essence Hall = 2 wins
=5. Raja = 2 wins
=5. Shea Couleé = 2 wins
8. Yvie Oddly = 1 winSo our top four based on track record should be Jinkx, Trinity, Monet and Viv.
I know the twist was put in place purely for Shea’s benefit, but when you see it like this, it just stinks.

ReplyCopy URLJuly 29, 2022 at 6:44 pm #1205029480Overall I really loved this season, as gimmicky as the legendary legend stars/platinum plunger was, I adored seeing every queen get to showcase their amazing talent and be celebrated through a whole season.
So it sucks the finale left me with such a sour taste in my mouth. I complained about this before and I will again…either the lip sync smackdown for the crown is truly that or it factors into a judgement on cumulative performance. But there needs to be consistency. It can’t blatantly be up the producer’s whimsy and that’s what it is. In seasons 9 and 12, the lip sync was the end-all-be-all and the girl with the best track record lost. Now Ru specifically had to caveat her winner announcement as “taking into account” the performance of the whole season because there was no editing in the world that could hide that Monet won that lipsync handily.
Monet is my favorite queen ever and I’ve been rooting so hard for her all season so I’m a bit in my feelings about it, although I think Jinkx is a perfectly deserving winner and I don’t disparage her enormous talent showcased so well all season. But Monet won the lipsync and she finished the season with the most stars, so it grates a bit to feel the production hand so heavily.
Doesn’t really matter in the end, I do think Jinkx deserves and Monet still got her flowers. But the inconsistency and use of the lipsync as the cudgel for the chosen production fave winner is getting real annoying.

So you are mad that you claim the producer’s changed the rules for Jinxk to win, but completely ignored the fact that the only reason why Monet had the most stars is because they changed the rules so that Shea would make the final 4, Monet would have the most stars and then get to take her friend into the finale.
The season is always taken into account. Season 9, Sasha was never in the bottom, won 2 challenges and she won the lip sync over Shea because she had one of the kost iconic moments in the shows history. Season 12, Jada had the second most wins of the season, you act like the people that won were in the bottom and never won.

Oh, I thought the twist with the stars was dumb too. Trinity, I think, explained the producers felt that because that was the challenge that required the most prep and was the biggest showcase for their talent it should be the one to get more stars. But it was framed badly. It was almost as bad as the lip sync thing.
I’m not implying the people who won had a bad track record at all? Top 2 always have great track records. Like I said repeatedly, Jinkx is the deserving winner. But they went on at the beginning of the season about how the track record doesn’t matter: it’s about the stars and the lipsync at the end. And season 9 did set a precedent that lip syncs overcome track records, and the other one I was thinking of was Yvie, so season 11 not 12, where she beat Brooke although Brooke had a notably better track record (which I was fine with just because Yvie was my girl that season). Kylie over Ra’Jah and Ginger too. The point is they clearly pick and choose when it matters. And it leaves this divisiveness every time, so its hard to really enjoy Jinkx’s win for her fans because of the discrediting, and Monet fans are mad…all a mess.
So I’m saying the lip sync is not really going to matter they should kill the LSSFTC get a new format. Like before when every finalist does a final ho-rah performance to kind of celebrate the journey of the season then get crowned.
Great season though. One of my favorite ever, so positive and fun, and it seems like the girls loved it too. I just have a very long-running bone to pick with the finale gimmick.
