This challenge was horrid! 12 hours to create a look. That’s not a lot of time. In the end the designs looked like something left over from a parade in Seattle.

Too bad they couldn’t send the entire bottom 3 home this week. All of them sucked.

There were a lot of questionable looks this week, but I did agree with the judges in their choice of winner and bottom three. It really seemed like the judges wanted to cut all three of the bottom three designers and really didn’t want to have to talk about them at all. Kovid was the right choice, though. His time was up last week. Bishme’s look was great, especially the jacket, and I’m glad he finally got a win. His whole dynamic with Tessa was fun to watch.

This should have been a double elimination week. Jamall’s look wasn’t even finished and just inept in both construction and execution. I haven’t liked or followed Kovid’s aesthetics from the beginning, and he annoys the living fuck out of me, so good riddance. Rakan can go home at any time as well for his boring genie-in-a-bottle clothes. Thrilled for Bishme! He really wanted this win, and he had the coolest girl on the runway anyways. I would have easily had Hester’s look there over Venny’s. That was my clear number two choice. Garo’s corseted design was kinda sick too … not mad that he was in the top three. Interesting challenge this week. I’m not into streetwear personally, nor did I have a notion of who “Dapper Dan” was, but the designers seemed very engaged this week. It’s too bad that they were so rushed. That was readily apparent in design after design. Venny meeting his idol was special for him, which I like seeing reflected in reality shows like this. One thing that’s quite disappointing me is Christian Siriano’s lackadaisical approach to mentoring the cast this season. The designers clearly need a strong hand, and they would have never talked to Tim Gunn the way they do with Christian. I think he wants to be their “friend” or something, and that’s not what a mentor is about. Age is a big factor here too. Tim just has a gravitas that comes with age and experience that even a former winner (the best winner “Project Runway” has ever anointed) just doesn’t have.

    Episode Title: “Power Play”

Rakan leaving was absolutely fine and overdue. Jamall can leave next week, and Vinny the week after. They aren’t at the level of the remaining designers, and now their slips are showing. Thrilled for Hester’s second win! She’s emerging with a winner’s narrative, and is also just the kind of face winner that TPTB would want for the reboot franchise. Creative challenge idea with the video game heroines. I pretty much knew exactly who would make clichéd dominatrix outfits and businesswomen in men’s suits. But some were genuinely inspired creations celebrating strong, kickass women without sexualizing them. Bravo is really going all out with this version of “Project Runway”! Exceptional production values, inventive challenges, and a diverse cast of emerging designers! Still have issues with a mostly dull judging panel beyond Queen Nina Garcia, a vapid host that’s no Heidi Klum whatsoever, and an over-it.com mentor with Christian Siriano. Oh wells. Nothing’s perfect.

What a fun challenge this week! Some of the looks were really great and cool, and others were pretty eye-rolling. Rakan’s and Jamall’s looks felt doomed from the start. Venny’s look started out middling but then he leaned into the terrible. When Garo described his editor/dominatrix character, I knew I’d dislike the look and I knew the judges would go for it. Oh well. I think Tessa really deserved this win, as her look as really inventive but also was something I could totally see being in a video game. I didn’t care for Hester’s look (she lost me at ‘sexy cargo pants,’ which do not exist), but I can see why the judges did.

It totally seems like there’s a bottom level of contestants who need to be eliminated before the others should have to worry about it.

There’s probably still potential for Christian to be better as the mentor for the group, even though it’s not working right now. Karlie really just doesn’t have a personality suited to hosting this show. Maybe I’d think she did if we didn’t have Heidi doing it for so long, but it feels like we’re sorely missing the charisma and the quirk.

Yay for Jamall! Finally finished a look and found his voice after weeks of misfires! Good for him. Nice challenge, but a highly vague one. “Elegance” means many different things to different people, snd some had better object inspirations in their respective handbags than others. I was under the impression that Brandon Maxwell would mentor the designers this week, but that wasn’t the case. Sonia never made an impression on me, good or bad, so I’m fine with her elimination. I liked Bishme’s look more than the judges did, but he should have picked the sheer black print over the busy blue floral one for his blouse. Hester is extremely lucky she had immunity this week. Tessa needs to jump off a bridge already. Done with that bitch, bye!

Episode Title: “Blame It on Rio”

Synopsis: Stylist Marni Senofonte is back, this time to challenge the remaining designers to work in her wheelhouse: celebrity styling; the designers must divide into teams to create a mini-collection for their client, Morena Baccarin (“Deadpool”), who is heading to Rio on vacation; some designers collaborate, while others compromise, as they race to create cohesive looks that tell a vacation fashion story; another contestant is eliminated from the competition.

What an episode! This is why team challenges have to go. Done, see ya. That’ll never happen, but still. Jamall should thank his lucky stars that he has immunity. I’m fine with Renee going home for those awful yellow pants, but I’m sad to see her second-guess herself. Venny made a silly teenager’s dress. That wasn’t for a grown woman, and certainly not for Morena Baccarin. I would have thought Tessa’s team might have won this. I don’t personally know Morena’s style, but I could have seen an adult woman in those looks the most, even though they ran a tad old like Lela’s. Hester’s look read very juvenile to me, but yay for her? Morena adored it, so what do I know? Three wins, bitches! I knew she was the one to beat. Hester is the perfect face for the revamped Bravo “Project Runway.” Her blue hair sold it. I might have given this win to Bishme, more for the redemption arc than anything else. And let’s talk about Miss Elaine for a second, who was a better host than Karlie’s ever been. Funny, charismatic, witty, and gorgeous! It would have been such a statement to make the face of the show a young black journalist woman versus another white blond glamazon model. Oh wells. Queen Nina was certainly missed though. Don’t be sick again!

I just caught up on the last two episodes over the weekend, and whew boy.

I’d say that in both episodes, the person with clearly the worst look had immunity, luckily for Hester and Jamall. But I like that Hester did something outlandish as experimentation, knowing she couldn’t be eliminated for it, whereas Jamall seemed not to realize what a blessing it is to have immunity during a team challenge, when you can so easily be sunk by the mistakes of others. I was stunned that Jamall came up with such a gorgeous and interesting look for the elegance challenge. What a deserved win for him, after I’d been rooting for his elimination for weeks. It was a little tough seeing Sonia go home for a look that was honestly just fine, but better her than Bishme, and really she never seemed like she had a shot in this competition. It was sad seeing Renee go home. I liked her presence a lot, but I thought her look was awful. What a shame that she was trying to replicate Venny’s pants method, because she’s made great pants throughout the season. The whole team was a mess, though, with all three of the looks appearing to be day looks, with no swimwear and no evening. Also, I don’t think the model Kate has ever had an outfit I liked, the whole competition. What a shame. Hester’s swimsuit was cute, but it kind of had the same problem as Venny’s dress, where the colors made it feel very junior. She was smart to make it reversible with the black inside — a runway look versus a wearable one — but I still would have given the win to Bishme, for the redemption and the drama of what Tessa would have had to say about it. (I can’t help but love Tessa and her attitude and also how nosy she is.)

I totally totally agree that Elaine made a much better host than Karlie. Funny, charismatic, witty, and gorgeous indeed! I think it also helps that Elaine is just her own personality up there, whereas Karlie feels like a poor attempt to be Heidi. Make the switch, Bravo! Nina was sorely missed on the judging panel, but I liked having Marni in there. I love a menswear challenge, so I’m excited to see this week.

So many unlikeable people this season … I think Tessa has one of the best styles and i love her work , but she is a spoiled little brat and i think one of the more miserable people ever on the show. I think Garos style is very dated and i find it all to be rather (drag). The only other ones i think i are good are Bishme , Hester and Sebastain… i think sebastain should win, i think hester will not be able to reign in her style to make a cohesive collection.

Sebastian is certainly my favorite designer this season, but I like quite a few of the others. I’ve felt like Hester will be the eventual winner since her first challenge win, though I find her work to be very hit or miss in terms of what out-there ideas work and what don’t. I also love Bishme.
