I also did not see the appeal of Shavi’s flower dress. It’s hard to imagine any person wanting to wear that (other than Kiernan Shipka, apparently). As problematic at Tyler’s dress was, I can think of several people I know who would wear that design in a heartbeat, though this judges finding him cute and funny might have saved him more than anything else.
Delvin was interesting to watch this week. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve basically only seen him working on his garment and resting because he was finished. This week, when he was struggling with the unconventional materials, he was shown being much more social, chatting with the others and offering advice on some of their designs. I wonder how much that was editing versus there actually being a big difference in his behavior.January 2, 2020 at 4:18 am #1203256406

Oh Miss Tyler, whyyyy? Frankly, Marquis with his double-sided tape and ill-fitting suit dress should have gone home. Designers have been eliminated for better than this tackiness, so that was disappointing to see happen. Shavi mainly lost his confidence after his hole mishap, so maybe something is still left there to mine aesthetically. Tyler’s “favorite bottom” status really did him in, and side note, never insult a judge on the runway like that! Yes, Karlie married the “good” Kushner brother, but gurlll!!! The Trumps and Kushners hate Karlie as it is, and she’s a lifelong Democrat, sooooo. Maybe audition on “Drag Race” as Kimberly Onassis lol? Of the winning looks, go Victoria! That was the easiest to call with her very chic European suit dress. I initially thought that so many black suit dresses would cancel themselves out, so good on her for going the distance. Delvin should have been top three, but they needed variety for Karlie to choose from, I guess. Glad Chelsey finally got some screentime and judges’ feedback, but an all-denim pants look was never winning. Nancy being runner-up is her prize TBH. A backwards pink shirt and a holey, denim hoop dress? Sorry, not seeing Karlie in Paris at a CFDA event wearing that. With the right styling, that look could easily be worn at a Texas rodeo or steakhouse. The Goodwill/ “upcycling” element to the challenge was excellent. The fashion industry produces tons of environmental waste yearly, and that needs to be properly addressed moving forward with eco-friendly clothing. I’m seeing a final four start to emerge now: Victoria, Delvin, Sergio, and Brittany. Also, LaVerne Cox rocked it as guest judge this week! I would watch a reality series where she does fashion makeovers for trans people in a heartbeat, or at least judges their efforts.January 4, 2020 at 6:11 am #1203259310
This challenge was a good one, too bad the designs were one terrible outfit after the other. This was an easy choice: either go with Victoria’s design, or don’t go to the event at all.
By the way, did anybody know what the event was about? Time, place, dress code? I don’t remember that being mentioned and you definitely don’t wear the top 3 designs to the exact same event, not even if it’s dinner at the Kushner’s. Those were 3 completely different looks and only Victoria’s was good.
I feel like this was a slam dunk for her and the other 2 looks were just “pick whatever to fill out the top3 who cares?”, because both of them had HUGE problems. Karlie would never wear Nancy’s look and Chelsea’s look had many issues that her original red pants inspiration certainly didn’t have. And why wasn’t this denim darker?
Marquise should’ve gone home instead of Tyler, but his little joke killed his chances, plus he’s “Project Runway’s Favorite Bottom”, so maybe it was his time.
And if he didn’t get the real joke behind his “favorite bottom” comment, how could he possibly get that he was going to screw up with the Kushner joke? I mean, #justicefortyler was definitely not the hashtag that was gonna come out of that interview.
I gotta give credit to everyone involved, it’s been a great season with great casting so far. Good job on making this show survive without Heidi and Tim. They’re really making it work.

Poor Tyler. I think his fate was probably sealed even before his Kushners comment, but that certainly killed any chance he might have had. Karlie was so annoyed she even decided to forego the suspense of sending one designer to safety first and just eliminated him outright. The judges just seemed to really dislike his work. His look this week wasn’t good, but was much better than what was put out by Shavi or Marquis, who should have been the easy elimination.
The upcycle aspect of the challenge was very cool, but it felt otherwise pretty underdefined. As mentioned, the designers seemed to be in the dark about the specifics of the event other than that it was CFDA and in Paris. From what I imagined, I wouldn’t have thought a denim look could have possibly worked, but lo, two of the top three looks were just that. I also feel like there should have been some consideration for how some designers more altered existing garments than designed and made new ones. Maybe that was the intention, and maybe it didn’t matter, but people seemed to be competing in two different challenges almost. Good for Victoria getting the win, which she clearly deserved. She’s certainly one of my favorites this season, and she’s funny. Another team challenge coming this week!January 9, 2020 at 8:03 am #1203272044
Episode Title: “She’s Sew Unusual”
Synopsis: Singer Cyndi Lauper inspires and guest judges the remaining designers in a team challenge: they must make cohesive mini-collections paying homage to Lauper’s 80s fashion style with a modern take; Christian Siriano throws out a mid-challenge twist that changes everything; another contestant is eliminated from the competition.

Not all that torn up about Melanie leaving. I don’t think she made a truly memorable piece during her time here, which is always eye-raising. The 80s challenge clashed too much with her miminalist approach in the end. I was screaming when Geoffrey won! Pretty thrilled for him, especially for this challenge and meeting his idol, Cyndi Lauper! I would have lost my mind as well meeting her! Victoria would have been a fine winner too. I think we might have our winner, folks! She has such a clearly defined aesthetic, which the judges love and will make a fashion-forward final runway collection. Brittany, love ya girl, but that shade of pink was hideous. That should have never made top three. It’s always a clear editing switcheroo in the team challenges when the group that’s supposedly in the dumps always ends up winning, and the ones who go without a hitch are the losers. There was no cohesion whatsover in Team Chaos, but the individual looks might have been stronger overall. Team Stripes was indeed too matchy-matchy, but at least they worked well together. Sergio’s look was terrible (Chelsey warned you, fool!), and for bringing his team down as leader, he deserved to be eliminated. Now that the judges see his arrogance in full display, I question Sergio’s final four placement. Marquis’s white satin shorts were a hot mess. I see him going home in the next week or so, BTW.January 13, 2020 at 9:30 am #1203281265
I was so happy for Geoffrey getting the win this week! Very deserving. Victoria’s was great as well, and I also really liked Delvin’s and Nancy’s looks. Brittany’s look was fine, but yeah, that was not a good pink. Thank goodness Christian warned them off using it to create “cohesion” by incorporating it into every look. It was pretty clear that Team Chaos would win because of how much they were making Team Stripes look like everything was going so smoothly, and at very least the editing made them seem pretty arrogant about it.
Great to see Sergio get called out. His look was hideous, and that’s the second time he’s done that same ruffle (which was so bad when he used it in the Cats challenge). Melanie seemed pretty doomed because she hadn’t made any impression at all so far, neither with her clothes nor her personality. It’s like the editors didn’t bother to have us get to know her better because she wouldn’t be around very long. Marquis’s look was better than the other two, but he still seems like the low man on the ladder right now. When he described the jacket he wanted to create, I really did not think he could pull it off, but it turned out pretty nice. Victoria definitely seems to be the top contender at the moment. The only potential issue I see with her is that her voice is so strong and specific that there might be a bit of fatigue with some of her techniques as the competition goes on. The judges tend to love a really strong point of view for the first half of the competition and then complain about the “sameness” of it in the second half. I hope Geoffrey continues to do well. I also keep feeling like Dayoung is going to break out and do some great work, but so far she hasn’t be able to do that.January 13, 2020 at 12:55 pm #1203282004

This was a nice episode. However you can see the “again?” storyline with Victoria coming a mile away. This is again, an asymmetrical jacket design. Same thing she’s been doing all season and same idea as when she won. Geoffrey also won for a jumpsuit, which is the same thing he did during his only other time in the top.
Marquise needs to go.
Melanie was a huge goner the minute she spoke during this episode. It was the typical “wait, did this girl just enter the show?”. There was no way anybody could’ve remembered her from the previous episodes. Editors need to be careful, when this type of contestant suddenly starts speaking after 4 episodes you know she’s doomed.
What does Victoria from Moldova have to do with Cynthia Lee Fontaine from Puerto Rico?
