The Olympic challenge was a HUGE mess. Easily the worst runway of the season. I love Nancy, she was very excited about this and executed the whole thing well, but between the fabric and the color choice, she deserved to just be safe and not have a winner at all. I hated the color of the dress against a black/silver wheelchair. It didn’t pop. I mean, you have total control Nancy, think about these things.
They rewarded them for nothing, it’s one thing to not eliminate people because the mom’s are the models, everyone was great or it’s Idol Gives Back week and it seems shitty to vote people off. But for this? Bye Marquise or Geoffrey. Preferably Marquise.
Marquise made a Justice or Forever 21 dress. And it wasn’t even that good. That his model was short doesn’t mean she’s a kid.
Geoffrey’s dress was something JWoww or some Flavor of Love girl would buy at the mall. And not today, back when they were all famous in 2008 or something. It was horrible. But compared to Marquise’s dress, at least his model looked great and liked it. It was just extremely tacky.
Sergio’s was great but needed something extra like Christian said. Brittany’s was great too but easily found at a Macy’s or Bloomingdales. Victoria did her thing but I just didn’t care for it. But it was easily in the top with Nancy.February 25, 2020 at 10:19 am #1203359910
I was pretty annoyed too that no one was eliminated this challenge. It was nice, though, that they gave all positive critiques while the athletes were present and sent them off the runway before they started to get critical. The judges should have done their jobs and picked between Geoffrey, Marquis and Brittany and sent one of them off. I guess I should be happy, as it would have been really sad for me losing Delvin and Geoffrey, my two favorites, in consecutive weeks. Geoffrey’s dress did look kind of tacky, but it also looked like exactly what his athlete wanted, and, as one of the judges said, also looked like something you might see at the Golden Globes. Brittany’s dress, on the other hand, looked really typical and kind of like a prom dress. I think Marquis should have been eliminated, though. His athlete was thrilled to have something full length, which is great, but he didn’t do anything to make it look less junior, which was the a problem I had with him in the last challenge as well.
Good for Nancy winning the challenge, and deservedly so. I’ve been doubting her this whole time, but it would be really interesting to see a collection from her. I would much rather see her collection than, say, Sergio’s. Everyone who’s still here has had some pretty major ups and downs. Brittany and Marquis have already been eliminated, and Victoria should have been eliminated a time or two as well. Nancy has come close, and there were times when I would have sent her home, and then there are Geoffrey and Sergio, who seem to most consistently avoid real danger. With next week’s challenge being avant garde (the challenge looks incredibly cool) and two people being eliminated, but kind of changes the field a little. It’s harder for Victoria to skate by in case of disaster, but given the challenge she’s less likely to have a disaster. Will Sergio try to make an obnoxious statement piece that gets him sent home? Are Nancy’s designs too real people/ready-to-wear for an avant garde challenge? If I had to power rank them based on the overall competition, I’d say: Geoffrey, Victoria, Brittany, Nancy, Sergio, Marquis.
I’m excited for the Heidi and Tim show on Amazon!February 25, 2020 at 2:42 pm #1203360334
Damn, forgot about the double elimination. It would be foolish to not bet on Nancy and Marquise right away because we’ve been watching shows like these for over 15 years and we know how it goes, but I agree that any of them could be sent home.February 27, 2020 at 3:14 pm #1203363013
Episode Title: “The Height of Avant-Garde Fashion”

Yay – somewhat!February 28, 2020 at 2:48 am #1203363502
Shooketh! I had Brittany winning this season outright lol. Somewhat unexpected top four, but I generally like it. Sad for Brittany. It was time for Marquis to go home already. I’m thrilled for Nancy, TBH. All the shit she withstood for her age and aesthetics, and here she is outlasting all of her “haters” lol. I hope she makes a stunning collection and isn’t simply the default fourth-place finisher. Sergio was always going to make it into the finals, but sometimes his smugness and references are too much to take. I’m glad Queen Nina called him out on his nonsense and ripoffs of McQueen and Galliano. He’ll make a polished collection, I’m sure, but with all the runways and celebrities he’s designed for, I’m curious what stalled in his career to need the exposure from a lowly cable reality/competition series. Geoffrey’s latex skills blew me away. We’re just seeing this from him now, seriously? I’m still banking on Victoria to win this, b/c the judges never wavered with her when she produced crap and raved her aesthetics otherwise. She has the best backstory of the four, and being foreign always helps. Unless Victoria really tanks it, I think the race is hers to lose. All will be revealed next week! Unless this is stretched to two episodes. Also, The Vessel is one of the most stunning pieces of architectural design I’ve ever seen. Bravo, Bravo!February 28, 2020 at 11:38 am #1203364006
What a truly fantastic spectacle it was seeing the models walking in these designs at the Vessel. I’d never seen it before, and now I feel like I need to go there. It’s an incredible building. I also loved that the designers were asked to showcase two previous looks in addition their new avant garde look. Not only did it make the runway show that much more sensational, but it also makes sense for the judges to see a few previous look in light of the decisions they’d have to make.
Good for my guy Geoffrey getting the win (essentially, I guess no one really won) for that great leather work. I love that he’s picking up momentum. I’m a little concerned what will happen to him left on his own to create for five months, but if his work looks anywhere near as good as he did in that Tom of Finland getup he was sporting in the preview, he should be fine. I also thought Victoria’s look was really great. Sergio’s garment was great, but I hated the styling (before knowing that it was derivative of Galliano, etc. as mentioned). Again, he was trying too hard with a statement instead of working from the piece he was trying to present. And good for Nancy making the final four. While her look was pretty similar to her previous work, I think she outshone Marquise and Brittany.
Tough break for both Marquise and Brittany, though it was likely a little earlier for the judges to eliminate them since they’d eliminated both of them once already. I didn’t think the retrospective really helped Marquise — that tuxedo look worked with the model he had in that original challenge, but wasn’t nearly as good on the model he had for it this time around. Plus, as Nina said, his outfit looked like the tin man. Brittany did probably the best job of picking two prior looks that felt related but not too similar, but the new coat wasn’t working out for her. The editing this season has seemed to imply that designers who talk smack about Nancy sort of get what they deserve by being eliminated, which I guess is part of creating a feel good story for Nancy, but is pretty annoying in that clearly there is much, much more talk about people’s designs than is aired and, at least to me, all of the critiques against Nancy feel pretty valid.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone creates! I assumed there were two more episodes, but I don’t know for sure.February 29, 2020 at 3:24 pm #1203365294
Team Nancy all the way!
Victoria does not deserve to win period.
Geoffrey – do not know what to say about him
Sergio – if focused without these stories and not borrowing from other looks could be dangerousFebruary 29, 2020 at 3:26 pm #1203365296
Also, Brittany and Delvin are in the We talked about Nancy club and got what they deserved – eliminatedMarch 5, 2020 at 9:50 am #1203372135
Episode Title: “Finale” (Part 1)
Synopsis: Christian visits the remaining contestants at home as they furiously complete their final collections. Then it’s back to workroom to refine and revise, because even though New York Fashion is here, that doesn’t mean everyone will show in the finale.

Well, that was a mess. Who the hell is getting eliminated now? Do all of them go to the finale because they all sucked equally during their previews? Of course they will.
The only person I’m not anticipating to see is Sergio. Between the bullshit ice caps storyline and the too muchness of everything, I don’t really care anymore.
They all seem like they need an extra month to figure things out because it didn’t look good at all. But I still wanna see a full collection from Victoria and Geoffrey and see if this was all editing to make us excited for the finale or if their collections are really this lackluster. And Nancy…who knows. We just love Nancy, and want her there. But there were a lot of issues with her collection too.
Let them all go becuase there’s not a clear winner or elimination here anyway.March 7, 2020 at 7:38 am #1203374022
On come on, Bravo! This show does not merit any cliffhangers, so quit with the shenanigans. All four will show at NY Fashion Week, I’m guessing, so not revealing that nonevent is foolish. There are definitely highs and lows to each collection. I’m most impressed with Geoffrey’s, and, gasp, Nancy’s. Brilliant and savvy move on Nancy’s part to do an adaptive design. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her three looks. I thought the judges would gush over them more. Geoffrey’s looks were strong to me. I’m instantly drawn into those puffer jackets, and I would have also leaned into all menswear outright in something radical in the finale for a change. Victoria’s looks felt more of the same. I was more excited with some of her season looks than anything she presented with five months of lead time. Sergio’s “eco-conscious” designs are both dated and eye-rolling. I hope he’s eliminated, TBH. You don’t get “climate crisis” at all from those three looks he highlighted here. Regardless, I loved gaining insight into their creative processes with the home visits, and I genuinely thought this was one of the most dynamic, eclectic group of designers I’ve ever seen from a full season. Whether that’s reflected in the actual winner is anyone’s guess at this point. Stay tuned!March 9, 2020 at 9:59 am #1203375762
It was cool to see the designs in progress and hear more about the designers’ processes. It felt like this season, when it came time to present the judges with three looks, Christian really emphasized to them that should try to get feedback on some of the looks rather than just being concerned with presenting a strong enough trio to get to show at Fashion Week. I admire how Nancy just said eff it and went with three strong looks rather than trying to get guidance on a weather one or two.
I would also guess that all four end up showing at Fashion Week, though if anyone deserves to be eliminated, it’s Sergio. The Victorian saloon motif that he decided to lean into just looked like old-timey costumes. He said that dark dress weighed 45 pounds. Imagine being so weighted down just to wear that dress. But the others I thought all had some promising things that needed some work. Nancy does seem the most together, but I think Victoria currently has the edge. Kudos to Nancy’s inclusive approach and designing the dress for the wheelchair user. It feel like she’s walking the walk where Sergio generally seems to be spinning a yarn about wanting to have an impact.
I’m going to assume they’ll all end up showing. I look forward to seeing the collections when they’re more polished.March 12, 2020 at 6:15 am #1203379080
