In the words of the great poet RuPaul Charles…
I think most of them look cheap, with bad wigs and bad outfits. This all will change as it usually does, but those promo shots suck. Scaredy Cat is my least favorite right now.August 22, 2019 at 1:51 pm #1203035219
Not an inspiring group at all, but I’m intrigued to see how this concept translates overseas.

It’s gonna air on Logo a week after it airs on the UK. Smart move, I’m sure people are gonna wait to watch it on Logo.
Just as stupid as Netflix waiting a week to air the show in Latin America.October 3, 2019 at 9:49 pm #1203120441
I think it’s safe to say that andrew garfield in wide-legged pants is my new kink
what a premiere that was, almost everything was unpolished and chaotic yet it has so much of the spirit that was lacking in the past few us seasons
probably not the best idea to have a look challenge as the first introduction with uk drag being mainly about performance, and to have an elimination based on looks brought from home just doesn’t seem quite fair, although the eliminated queen’s performance suggests that she’s not gonna last long anyway
judging is wonky, as it had been lately, the only queen who fully deserved their top 3 placement for me was sum tin wong, two simple looks with just enough to be striking and memorable; vivienne’s looks were streamlined and polished but not much more and baga was just obviously a production pick.
divina seems to be the richest if not the most polished of the bunch, surprised to not see her taking the win, let alone being safe after the way her talking heads were shoved down our throats, maybe the queen in lingerie thing is seen as a minor offense; blu hydrangea has one of the best-painted faces in recent drag race herstory, although the hoop skirt in the second look threw it off I still think she should’ve been on top
alan carr is fabulous as expected and andrew garfield should go down as one of the best guest judges ever, he delivered all the earpiece-fed horrible puns with so much enthusiasm you could almost buy it
rumor was that one of gothy’s looks didn’t get delivered, but I couldn’t tell which cuz they both looked unfinished, and her performance in the lip-sync further establishes her lack of, well basically everything. vinegar didn’t even seem to be doing her best (granted the wig reveal was immaculately timed) and she was completely destroyed, as awkward and stiff as any drag race contestant have ever been
overall this has been far from the most polished batch of contestants, but there are such characters that I just cannot wait to see the whole season unveilOctober 10, 2019 at 7:38 pm #1203131466
These people didn’t have anybody who’s actually from the UK giving them pointers on the challenges. So far it’s been cliche after cliche. The Queen, Downton Abbey, Bond. What’s next? Spice Girls, Queen, Elton? A cup of tea challenge? Shakesqueer Part II? (That seems obvious and justified considering what happened the first time).
This show needs better writers. The challenge was pretty bad.
The lip syncs have been horrible. These girls don’t know how to dance or do a step or two. Just walking up and down, side to side on the runway.
Next week Ru goes after Vinegar for her looks. He better do the same with Sum Tin Wong, right?
Also, when asked, why didn’t Cheryl simply say “I don’t know Ru, I just think there was sum tin wong with that team”?
Crystal looked like a grown up Gothy Kendoll. She was the best along with The Vivienne and obvious winner Baga Chips.
Scaredy Cat deserved to go.October 10, 2019 at 9:04 pm #1203131566
I don’t see the problem with bringing out some cliches, this is the first season after all
the writing is as bad as recent acting challenges have been. baga is the runaway winner, but it’s probably 30% to do with the fact that I can’t understand half of what she was saying. divina and vivienne also delivered, crystal was a pleasant surprise
vivienne and crystal ruled that runway, blu and divina were good too but the proportions didn’t look right. sum ting wong looked pretty great until she took the hood off, cheryl was serving crinkles and a flat ass, vinegar and baga… I don’t know what they’re doing
cheryl is starting to give me laganja teas (apparently she and alyssa are close) but having seen her perform she’s gonna last quite a while, especially with the way lip syncs have been so far. I thought blu was gonna deliver but turned out meh, she did win fair and square though, scaredy has a very interesting aesthetic and seems surprisingly poised for her inexperience, she’ll probably be brought back in the future
next episode is a car boot sale themed sewing challenge, that oughtta be funOctober 17, 2019 at 6:33 pm #1203141869
quite an enjoyable episode, the narratives are emerging, the weirdo underdog and the polished villains have shown themselves, not gonna be too many surprises from here on
dance-based mini-challenges are always lots of silly fun, and give viewers hints on who might perform well in lip syncs, cheryl proves why she was in the competition in the first place with her moves, baga, divina, and crystal all seem like they’d be able to deliver when the occasion rises
loved the cameo appearance by raven, ever the charmer she is, the fact that she easily out-fashions any girl in the competition with a simple black ensemble makes me wish there’s a way for her to return on all stars
the werkroom conversations are clearly hinting at a divina, vivienne, baga top 3 with crystal being an acid-betty-esque surprise early out (she could very plausibly go next week). divina’s energy is very jinkx, and she proves tonight she can slay a sewing challenge unlike the latter. vivienne is featuring that detox “I’m fucking better than you” attitude and baga is getting there too, even though she stayed endearing most of this episode
divina and crystal make a very easy top 2 on the runway, both had distracting props but the garments were simply stunning. divina deserved her win with an outfit worthy of tilda swinton herself (not saying too much since tilda would wear basically anything but y’know). I personally would swap vivienne from the top 3 for blu, especially after hearing her give that big speech about learning to sew in a hot-glued outfit that’s not even particularly good
baga’s safe placement further establishes her as a production favourite, the back of her corset isn’t even properly covered for god’s sake. cheryl’s outfit was boring (and very alyssa) but it was at least somewhat complete, although after three weeks stuck in the lower tier of the competition I’d rather have her lip sync right away, she would’ve easily slayed this lip sync, unlike vinegar, who was doing whatever that was while wearing whatever that was, and sum ting, who kinda picked herself up during the second half but still underwhelmed the fuck out of me
next week is snatch game, this is guaranteed to be good, I’ve seen videos of vivienne and baga doing celebrity impersonation and they would absolutely blow the recent US snatch game winners out of the waterOctober 25, 2019 at 2:05 pm #1203152762
Excellent episode, to borrow the pitiable words of one particular contestant on the panel, the UK queens have made snatch game great again.
Vivienne and Baga are set in their paint-by-numbers villain edit, it’s quite refreshing at this point to see two seasoned queens well aware of how the game is played willingly offer themselves up to be the bad guy. Divina seemed too experienced at first to be an underdog, but after her (unexpected) stumble this week her narrative is ready to take off.
Vivienne’s Trump was an absolute riot, probably the best snatch game performance since (the still untouchable) AS2, she gave everything one might look for in this challenge, great impersonation, great banter, great one-liners. Baga was a solid second, but her Thatcher still pees and poos on Trinity’s Caitlyn.
Both Blu and Cheryl would’ve made deserving winners up against the S11 girls, but they simply fell short against strong competition. Still, it would’ve been nice if one of them (preferably Blu cuz that runway was everything) had gotten a high placement to round out their storyline.
Divina had one good line and disappeared. Considering her overall favorable edit I wouldn’t bet on her unaired answers being any good. I probably could’ve done a better Blanche than Crystal, the “thanks syphilis” line would’ve probably saved her from the bottom in a weaker bunch. Sum Ting was the only major flop, I cackled when I saw her look, turns out that’s the only thing funny about her performance.
This runway was something else, half the looks were all-stars worthy. Blu snatches the top toot for me with her ridiculously intricate paint job (seriously how much time did she even have to do all THAT). Crystal’s a close second with an outrageous frock that puts most looks on this season of Dragula to shame, especially the electric cutter side gag. Divina’s aquatic goddess ensemble was absolutely beautiful, the top half of Vivienne’s floral Okja outfit was stunning too, but the ill-fitting brown bodysuit kind of ruins it for me. Baga and Cheryl underwhelmed in probably the most interesting outfits they’be worn this season. Sum Ting continues her slump in a 2000 Britney Spears bodysuit.
Crystal and Sum Ting deservedly fell into the bottom, resulting in the best lip-sync this season thus far. The song was obviously not in Crystal’s repertoire but something about her performance truly captured the near-apocalyptic Millenium spirits of the song. Sum gave a very good teen pop-y lip-sync, either of them could’ve won but it’s obvious that Sum has much less to give in the competition as a whole so she gets the chop.
Next week is a live singing/choreography challenge, this will be Cheryl’s last chance to shine before she inevitably lip-syncs in front of her namesake Cheryl Cole herself in episode 6, or maybe she’ll just go into Alyssa mode and death drop her way onto the top 4.October 25, 2019 at 5:13 pm #1203153017
You know what, we need to forgive Charlie Hides. He just saw Trinity dancing and said “fuck it, I can’t move like that, I’d stand like this and not make a fool of myself like the future UK girls in 3 years”. Not everybody can be a Dusty and get creative.
This almost great episode was once again ruined by the lip sync.
Easily the best episode of the season and one of the best episodes of the show in general since season 10. Even RuPaul stepped up and looked the best she’s ever looked in a while. (I think she has been wearing better clothes this season, actually).
The Snatch Game could possibly be the best they’ve ever done. There were 7 contestants and 5 did a great job (even Sum Ting), and Vivienne and Baga were amazing. I don’t get why Baga needed to share on the win since her runway was bottom 2 worthy, while Vivienne’s wasn’t that great but at least it was, as Baga would say, “Much bettah!”
And Divina was awful, yet she was safe because of the outfit. So, the same should’ve applied to Baga.
I don’t know who Blu was doing, but it was funny and something about her makeup seemed very right and funny as well. Her runway was so soooo good. Cheryl also did a great job. I don’t know who she was doing either, but it looked confident, fluid and funny. Sum Tin was also doing a good job, she was just unfunny and then her almost Oops I did it Again runway was a mess. And Crystal…well…she fucked up as Rue McClanahan, starting with the awful makeup. But the redeemed herself with a great runway.
So over half the contestants, 5 people, did a great job in Snatch Game? That has to be a record.
Geri, who for some reason was credited as just Geri, but then was called Halliwell 10 times during the show, was the classic annoying guest that doesn’t want to be mean, so she holds back and looks uncomfortable. And she was pisssssed with Alan’s ”stop right now” joke.
Great episode, hilarious work from Baga and The Vivienne is a star. That was Baldwin/Hammond level.
