Apparently, the new season of “Top Chef” has been airing since early December. I’m livid that I didn’t know about this! Nothing interests me on the otherwise useless Bravo, but maybe that will change when “Project Runway” returns next year.
I’ll try to catch up on the aired episodes as best I can when they re-air or unlock on the app. In the meantime, for those who have been watching all along and didn’t bother to say anything, please chime in now!

I totally forgot to check for a thread about it. Binge watched this morning all the episodes that have aired thus far and was going to make the thread. You beat me to it lol. I have some favorites already.
In order of favorites:
The rest I am not a fan of but I dislke Pablo and Eddie the most.
LCK is insane though. Spoiler: Jim, Brother Luck, and Carrie all back in action. Rooting for Carrie.January 1, 2019 at 4:31 am #1202715311
Just watched the season premiere. It’s the only one unlocked at the moment, so I’ll be behind on this for a good while unless a marathon or something airs. Loved the Kentucky setting right off the. bat. I don’t think of the state as a culinary destination, but it looks like this will be a lively season. The cast on first glance is stellar. Kentucky Derby Quickfire was great. The “win, show, place” deal was really cool. That’s how you separate the pros from the amateurs! The judging panel wasn’t one of my favorite combinations, but per usual, they’re the most professional and seemed to nail the winners and losers well. The eliminated chef seemed deserved. It was a blatant mistake letting all the moisture from those cherry tomatoes make those biscuits soggy. Ricotta’s pretty blah to me on its own as well. I thought the guy who made the soup that Tom C. couldn’t stop raving about would win, but any of those three would have probably been great winners. I say every year that I’ll watch “Last Chance Kitchen,” so maybe this will be the year! Wish I hadn’t known that returning contestants are coming back, but whatever. Carrie returning would be everything, bitches! Brother Luck to a lesser degree. Anyways, great to have the show back! Wish I’d known about it sooner. Another twist this season: an early “Restaurant Wars” with three teams of four instead of two teams of eight! Can’t wait!January 2, 2019 at 6:20 am #1202716248
I have been enjoying this season , its alwasy hard for me to root for people on this show because i feel like its always so fluid with who can go home … Restaurant wars started great, cant wait to see the end .. i feel like the Young asian girl is def on the chopping block she was a mess … the other guy with the beard who took on alot of plates is also going to be struggling

That elimination….not a happy camper right nowJanuary 4, 2019 at 2:22 pm #1202718743
Brutal Restaurant Wars. I hope they never do it this early again. The contestants don’t know each other well enough to decide what roles to take on and the worst of the batch haven’t been whittled away yet. Top 8 is a good time.
I also wish for the future that the servers for Restaurant Wars have actual serving experience. This time around they were just so incompetent and really screwed over every time. It’s just a variable that does not need to be there.January 11, 2019 at 7:55 am #1202729936
Disagreed with this particular elimination…..saying that Eddie’s dish looked awesome.January 12, 2019 at 9:49 am #1202730871
Caught up through Restaurant Wars and the Roaring Twenties episode. The earlier episodes won’t seem to reair or unlock, so screw you, Bravo! I liked the change-up with getting RW early, but yikes! This is clearly why you have the top eight do this instead of top twelve. Some of the weaker players needed to be whittled down first. Nini wouldn’t have made it that far, I think, for example. Sucks to leave for poor front-of-the-house, but her ice cream fail marred her “chocolate” dessert as well. Total chaos where she was completely out of her element, which sank her team. Bruno leaving in part for over-ambition and getting in the weeds with his prepping/execution. Wasn’t thrilled at all with Brother Luck returning (#TeamCarrie always!), and then leaving in the same episode was such a waste. Maybe Nini should get another chance? I didn’t like how everyone resented BL for Nini leaving, but still, be professional about it. It was funny to have Brian win RW and then bottom three next episode lol. Oh well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see BL make it back again TBH…stay tuned.January 17, 2019 at 9:17 am #1202737575
Episode Title: “Carne!”
Synopsis: Lena Waithe surprises the chefs by challenging them to make their best version of the trademark Kentucky dish, the Hot Brown; super-chef Nancy Silverton brings her internationally renowned friend, butcher Dario Cecchini, to break down a whole cow for the chefs to utilize along with locally-sourced Kentucky ingredients; another contestant is eliminated from the competition.

UGH. I actually thought his dish was the best thought out but worst executed.January 18, 2019 at 6:46 pm #1202739089
Bye Brandon! Can’t stand chefbros, so I’m not bothered by his elimination at all. I think that all of chefs had some dings on them in this challenge. Most went too frou-frou and didn’t respect the cuts of beef that they were given. No beef tartares ever lol! This was a very informative episode about the different cuts and such. Little gross seeing the Italian guy butcher like he was a mad scientist, but it was cool seeing how in awe all the chefs were of him. You could tell how much Brian wanted to win this elimination challenge. Eddie’s a weird one, but he’s slowly becoming final four material and one of the chefs to beat this season. Also, the “Hot Brown” looks absolutely delicious! Never knew it existed until this episode, and now I really want to have one! Or better yet, make one for myself.
