Some changes here and there to accommodate for social distancing, and sadly no more Whole Foods speed-shopping. I like seeing the alums starting to take on a prominent role in the series. This should have happened seasons ago. Looks like a strong group of chefs competing. I think the right chef won tonight, and since she won both the quickfire team challenge (with immunity) and the elimination challenge, she’s one to watch out for moving forward. The eliminated chef looked out of his element, but “Last Chance Kitchen” is happening again too, so someone’s coming back to the main show eventually. Excited to see what happens in Portland this cycle!

ReplyCopy URLApril 9, 2021 at 10:03 am #1204188241Really good twist in the elimination challenge to turn it from individual to team competition, and having to combine the beer- and coffee-inspired dishes into a cohesive dish. Some teams rose to the occasion beautifully, and others really faltered. Looks like the elimination was deserved, but spoiler alert, she won in the first episode of “Last Chance Kitchen,” so let’s see how far she goes (still learning the names). Loved the breakfast diner Quickfire! That was pretty involved having to make eight plates of everything, and then the judges having to eat all of that food. Padma must live in a gym to keep looking like she does, which is the case from interviews I’ve seen from her.
ReplyCopy URLApril 9, 2021 at 12:11 pm #1204188629That was a very deserved elimination in my opinion but she is absolutey my least fav of the group so.
ReplyCopy URLApril 15, 2021 at 3:45 pm #1204202961Episode Title: “Pan African Portland”
Synopsis: The pressure is laid on the remaining chefs in the Quickfire Challenge as they are tasked to make a layered dessert; Gregory and Kwame take the chefs on a tour of restaurants that feature food from the African diaspora; another contestant is eliminated from the competition.

There she finally got out of her head and cooked with her heart, but it was too late. Great elimination challenge with the unheralded pan-African cuisine.

Synopsis: The remaining chefs must create a dish featuring Campbell’s soup for Padma and Dale Talde; the cheftestants get thrown for a loop when they find out they won’t be shopping for their Elimination Challenge; another contestant is eliminated from the competition.

ReplyCopy URLApril 23, 2021 at 10:11 am #1204217229Kiki serving the entire judging table raw chicken couldn’t be overlooked, no matter what any of the rest of the bottom three did or didn’t do. Easy elimination choice, but there’s hope for her yet. She took down two-time challenge winner Sasha in “Last Chance Kitchen,” so let’s see what Kiki does with her newfound redemption moving forward.
ReplyCopy URLApril 23, 2021 at 10:20 am #1204217250I agreed one million percent on the elimination but not the winner for this week. I was rooting for Chris.
ReplyCopy URLApril 24, 2021 at 12:47 pm #1204219603This is my first season back watching Top Chef after taking many, many seasons off and I couldn’t be enjoying it more. I love the way they’re handling the pandemic and this year’s crop of chefs seems really excellent. Really glad I’ve come back to the show, and I’ll probably go revisit some old seasons on Hulu to discover some of these incredibly impressive alumni who I missed, too.
