Let’s have a little fun here: Who dou think is going home? Myguess is Jamie orMariaJune 10, 2021 at 1:15 pm #1204295326
It may not mean anything but in the preview it shows Maria crying and Padma asking her if she is saying she wants to go home… (at least that is the way the editing makes it appear)… so I guess I am saying Maria packs her knives and goes home… (as long as it’s not Shota I will be happy).June 10, 2021 at 6:12 pm #1204295779
The ending was anti-climactic, clearly they were going to choose Gabe as the winner, but I think Shota got the silver since Dawn forgot to give three of the ten judges one of the sauces.
I was surprised the quickfire challenge didn’t go to Gabe and Shota though, since they got the gribiche – I didn’t think Dawn had done so?
Super sweet ending with Jamie wanting to give Maria a second chance – Glad that Maria said “no way!”.
Super worried about next week, that preview scares me terribly! I want Shota to at least be in the final. It’s clear that the three favorites are Shota, Dawn and Gabe, but the minute Padma said “cheddar cheese” I thought “oh no! That’s not good for Shota” ): Here’s hoping the preview is misleading and my heart won’t be broken!June 10, 2021 at 7:41 pm #1204295895
This is the final four that I predicted, and the one that we all deserve. Dawn would have won the challenge outright had she plated all the ingredients for the judges. That’s her Achilles heel yet again, and someone next week falls victim to the same fate. Needed elimination win for Gabe, so good for him in taking a Mexican street food and making it soar like he did. Jamie bringing all the drama at judging panel was very unexpected! Like, for Maria, really? She was clearly out of her depth, but Tom was right Jamie would have hated herself if she withdrew from the competition. Both of them delivered subpar dishes, but at this late stage, it should be about whose food you most want to consume further. I think that’s Jamie over Maria in spades, but I think Jamie’s going home next. It’ll hinge on how many chefs are allowed in the finale–two or three. I highly doubt all four make it.June 11, 2021 at 5:21 am #1204296179
The preview has made me a nervous wreck for next week’s episode ):
My memory is that usually the final starts out with 3 contestants and then they have eliminated one of the 3 in a challenge round and then the 2 winners of that round face off in the final challenge??? But I kind of remember that they sometimes have done it differently than I just described?June 11, 2021 at 11:46 am #1204296600

For some reason I think they have done it differently in different seasons? Anybody else know the answer?
I wish they wouldn’t put up those scary previews of the next episode!June 17, 2021 at 4:21 am #1204303775

The preview for tonight’s episode is making me very nervous! But I have read some things online that make me think my anxiety may be misplaced? I wish they wouldn’t do scary previews!!! I am concerned that cheese isn’t going to be a great ingredient for my favorite of the remaining four chefs.
Gabe has actually done the best overall so far this season, with Shota and Dawn right behind him. But my feeling is that the top two will likely be Shota and Dawn. I gather from all I have read that the final is not live this year and has already been filmed. There are 3 more episodes for the season with the finale on July 1st.June 17, 2021 at 1:00 pm #1204305068
Gail Simmons has been promoted to co-host on the Reality Host Emmy ballot! Excellent news!June 17, 2021 at 6:11 pm #1204305777
Hooray! Shota was the winner!!!!!
So we got the top 3 we were all expecting: Shota, Gabe and Dawn. I did think they might send Dawn home for her mistakes, disappointed that the journey ended for Jamie, but at least she won the quickfire challenge!
I was surprised that they had so many negative things to say about Gabe’s dish at judge’s table since they seemed to love it when they were eating it.
Dawn has been making this same mistake over and over again. Chris did earlier in the season and it took forever for him to be eliminated.
So I gather one contestant will leave next week and then we will have a 2 person final???
This was a particularly interesting episode! Just so happy for Shota!!!June 17, 2021 at 7:29 pm #1204305936
Sad exit for Jamie. She went through more than just about any contestant this season with “Last Chance Kitchen” (with maybe the exception of Sara), but the fish/cheese combination didn’t work for her, it seems. Rooting for her to win Fan Favorite! Very difficult elimination challenge with the five cheese preparations, so it was interesting to see what they all made in the end. Dawn still having her plating issues this late in the game is insane! Chefs have been sent home for less in the past, so that goes to show the strength of what Dawn is actually managing to get inside (most of) the judges’ mouths. It also might reveal who gets to compete in the finale. Shota winning a cheese challenge with Japanese cuisine is baller, and for someone I’ve pigeonholed as only really excelling in one type of cuisine, he rallied to show some needed versatility and spark in the home stretch. I waver with Gabe. Clearly a super-talented chef and could easily win the season as the first Mexican-American Top Chef winner, but it seemed like he overreached here and did more with the apples than the cheeses. That could be an obvious Bravo editing misdirect, or not. Dawn winning would be absolutely everything, and seeing Goddess Nina back tonight only highlights how utterly shameful it is that a black woman hasn’t won this competition yet. Narratives don’t normally impress Tom, Padma, or Gail, but 2020 wasn’t just any ordinary year, was it? One thing Dawn can’t do again is misplate her dishes to the judges. It’ll be another tired all-male finale if so…June 19, 2021 at 7:06 am #1204308466
So who do y’all think will be the top 2?
Shota and Dawn
Shota and Gabe
Gabe and Dawn
Methinks Shota and Dawn will be the finalists. Since I want Shota to win I am hoping for one of the first two of these combinations!
