Only 3 contestants left – my Shota and Gabe and Dawn. I just want Shota to be in the final, that is all!!!! (; I would think Shota would do well with this particular challenge?June 24, 2021 at 6:37 pm #1204316875
Super happy that Shota won and that he will be in the final! I hope he can win 3 weeks in a row!!!!
Disappointed that Dawn wasn’t eliminated as she made yet another plating error – she got away with it all season! All 3 chefs made mistakes but I felt that Dawn’s mistake was the biggest. Gabe also had a plating error. For Shota it wasn’t a plating error per se it was a he should have figured out what to do with it without the rice. I knew Shota was going to make it to the final based on the comments for his 2nd dish but I wasn’t sure if they would choose him or Gabe as the winner of the challenge.
Shota won 4 elimination challenges and one quickfire challenge. Gabe won 3 elimination challenges and one quickfire challenge. Dawn won 1 elimination challenge; not sure how many quickfire challenges but she must have won quite a few based on Padma’s comments during the black box quickfire challenge that she had won the most challenges over all at that point.
So the 3 best cooks made it to the final. I think it will likely be super close. I want Shota to win but at the very least he has made it to the final. I voted for him one last time for Fan Favorite tonight.June 24, 2021 at 8:19 pm #1204316989
Nice to see all three make it to the finale! Sort of a copout too, but all three of them had missing ingredients in their plating to the judges. It would have been churlish to single out one for the oversight when it was a detriment to each of them. But Dawn, gurllll. You’re a former Olympian! Get it together! I can’t tell if it’s simply a time management issue with her, or over-ambition that stands in her way. The judges clearly love her cooking, and I think she would have taken the win away from Shota with a completed dish. She’s so self-defeating at times, and it’s painful to watch. When the race is this close, the totality of the competition is taken into consideration, and Dawn’s misplating might cost her if she’s not the outright best in the finale. Shota seemed like the most logical elimination, since multiple judges complained that his first dish wasn’t as advertised as a dual preparation. Smart choice not to plate something inferior this late in the game, but Gail was right that some sort of substitute should have been attempted for the cold Dungeness crab preparation before moving on the hot dish. Gabe is looking more and more like the winner. He’s that MOR white dude pick that the show loves to honor, and they can still call it a historic win as the first Latin-American winner. I don’t see the path for Dawn anymore. Shota might win Fan Favorite, which should be going to Jamie, but whatever. That should be a prize for the nonfinalists. I do like how extensive the alums are being used this season. Maybe that’s out of necessity with covid, but it’s been great to use such a deep bench of finalists for judging panels and the quickfires. Ready for the season finale!June 25, 2021 at 10:28 pm #1204318863
I’m so glad all three made it to the finale. I really love our top three, and I was upset at the thought of any of them going home. I thought Dawn and Gabe both missing an ingredient and overdoing one element (garnish/artichoke) let them wash each other out and open for the three-way finale because the judges had to punt with them both making the same mistakes. Right now, I think it’s really a pick ’em as to who wins. I think Dawn is at the most disadvantaged position, probably. The finale will be a four-course meal, and I can see her time management challenges really striking there. At the same time, I can see that kind of challenge benefiting Shota. I’ll go ahead and just guess Shota, but really I can see it being any of the three and I would be thrilled with any of them as well. Really love this group.June 26, 2021 at 9:24 am #1204319260
In that order is my rankingsJune 30, 2021 at 5:07 am #1204324303
The suspense is killing me! (; I want Shota to win so much! I have been searching for leaks to find out the winner but haven’t found any! (; I am just so glad he made it to the final!
This has truly been the best season ever!!!June 30, 2021 at 2:58 pm #1204324976
Looking for leaks? Why?
Anyway, glad that this is the top 3, it’s the one I predicted along with…Sarah? Was that her name?
I found Maria annoying at first, grew to like her, sad she left. Jamie was a lot of fun.
This Top 3 going to the finale only means “we didn’t wanna vote off Gabe”. I’m sure they were predicting a Gabe vs Shota finale for a long time and no way they were letting Gabe go. But you know Dawn would’ve easily been eliminated.
Dale’s over the top rant when Brooke was missing the cheese was both hilarious and stupid.
Great season!July 1, 2021 at 9:39 am #1204325803

Here we go! Predicting Gabe FTW.July 1, 2021 at 5:37 pm #1204326343
Again, Dawn??? Damn.July 1, 2021 at 6:17 pm #1204326401
Gabe was always winning. He’s the kind of MOR white male chef that this show routinely awards. He made the fewest mistakes and had the most progressive menu of the three finalists, so kudos to him for doing that, at least. Hopefully, there won’t be too much backlash to the decision, since some recent sexual harassment allegations have surfaced with Gabe that he hasn’t exactly had to answer for … yet. This huge spotlight might change the situation. Shota made mistakes throughout, and Dawn, jesus. Misplating AGAIN in the FINALE?!?!? As Melissa said in judges’ panel, that’s inexcusable at this late stage. As much as I wanted to see history made with the first black female winner, that clearly wasn’t Dawn with no path to winning. It was nice seeing Tiffany and Nina go to bat for her at the end like that. Andy Cohen will announce Fan Favorite tonight, so both of them still have a chance to win something. Really strong season that persevered with the pandemic filming. Using past alums so effectively for judging and mentoring is a lesson that ALL reality shows with deep benches should learn from, and not just for a season where outside judges couldn’t be flown in for every episode. I feel like they’re grooming Richard Blais for a future permanent position anyways, whether we like that or not. His prominent role in “Last Chance Kitchen” for past episodes was telling, and he’s probably the most well-known winner to the general public. I’d be more than fine with “Top Chef” upsetting for the Reality/Competition Program Emmy this year, as well as Reality Host for Padma, Tom, & Gail. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” was whack AF this past season, and Ru’s phoning it in at this point too. I could see a win as voters sending a love letter of sorts to the flailing restaurant industry. Until next time, cheers!July 1, 2021 at 7:00 pm #1204326445
I gave up with 15 minutes to go in the episode and realized that boring Gabe was going to win, a really poor ending to an otherwise terrific season. Cooking shows are dumb because we can’t judge the food – a singing competition we can judge or America’s Got Talent we can judge along with the judges and agree or disagree. All I cared about was Shota winning. If they had declared Dawn the winner after making yet another plating error it would have been unforgivable so it was clear it was Shota vs. Gabe. Once the nitpicking of Shota began in rounds 2 and 3 I knew it was all over and turned it off. I do hope that Shota’s career gets a boost. Perhaps there will another all-stars and we will get another chance then. Disappointed but not surprised.July 1, 2021 at 11:16 pm #1204326649
