MARY PICKFORD AWARD: Edward James Olmos
TESLA AWARD: John Toll
HUMANITARIAN AWARD: Patrick StewartNovember 29, 2016 at 12:00 pm #1201958503The film nominees certainly appear to be in voting order, so I posted the television nominees also in the order presented, although these are less consistent and plausible. The number of nominees per category randomly varies.
Most curious are the nominations for Master of None and Getting On, neither of which aired this year.
According to the 2016 rules, “To be eligible for SATELLITE™ Awards consideration, the show/film/series must have aired within the year during January to December.” I have emailed Marcus and Tom about getting them rescinded, but I feel like I have not seen coverage of the Satellite Awards on the Gold Derby blog since we exposed them for voting for The Wolf of Wall Street without seeing it. Also, it is technically eligible, but The Man in the High Castle does not come out until December 16th, so that might be more bullshit.

Go, Riley! Let’s see if you get them removed like you did MacNicol at the Emmys and Patinkin at Critics’ Choice! The IPA is one of the worst offenders at eligibility, nominating Glenn Close and Laura Dern in calendar years when they were ineligible, but maybe you’ll chill the behavior altogether once and for all!

November 29, 2016 at 2:37 pm #1201958605It’s so depressing that these nominations are better than critics choice. In particular: Sarah Lancashire for Happy Valley!

ReplyCopy URLFor Your Consideration:
Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)December 24, 2016 at 9:49 am #1201974498I knew that the ceremony was February 19th, so I expected that to be when they announced the winners…
Silicon Valley, Dominic West, Rhea Seehorn and Taylor Schilling also won last year.
Ben Mendelsohn wins supporting actor for all of television, really? That is even worse than at the Emmys!
