So after watching THT S2 Eps 1-7, IMO Samira Wiley is the only one who deserves a nomination. I was a bit torn about her nomination last year, I know the editors here loved her episode but I didn’t think she was thaaat strong. But she was amazing in 2×07. It isn’t a typical crying scene, you could see the pain in her face. Tomei was good and her last scene was great but that doesn’t make her deserving IMO. Cherry Jones barely did anything. Pls give these spots to Washington and Davis instead.

Alfre Woodard is the last name in both Guest Actress categories, F. Murray Abraham is the first name in both Guest Actor categories. I feel like they will eventually get in for one or the other. My bets are for Empire and Homeland repsectively.

The Good Fight submitted really great with Judith Light, Andrea Martin, Jane Lynch, Margo Martindale, and Carrie Preston. I wish the voters were watching the show so some of them could get in. Alan Alda and Jane Lynch seem like the only real possibilities here.

In order for Peter Mullan to get nominated, isn’t it necessary for voters to actually watch the show? I don’t believe he has enough of the name-check factor to guarantee himself an easy nomination.

Given it’s 22 nominations last year, I feel like enough voters are watching even if it doesn’t have the same amount of buzz as last year.

Is Lorne Michaels or NBC sexist or do they just choose to be weirdly more selective with female host submissions? A couple years ago SNL didn’t submit any women for Guest.

For your Goldderby Film Awards consideration: Isle of Dogs for every category, especially Music Score for Alexandre Desplat!

It is quite concerning. You cannot take for granted that the Emmy voters will be up to date even on shows that they like. I cannot get over how Pedro Pascal was snubbed for Game of Thrones for his season-long guest arc in the last year before the fifty-percent rule. There is something to be said that Peter Mullan is a past Emmy nominee, but I think that his nomination was a bit too specific for him to be considered a “name” at the Emmys at this point. I am also becoming increasingly concerned about Westworld in general, so why should I predict it to score multiple nominations in a category for which it did not even submit last year? If they are watching this season of Westworld, then he gets nominated, but that is his only path. Jimmi Simpson can get nominated if they only watched last season. Say that Peter Mullan does have name recognition. He does not have as much as Beau Bridges. They will check his name for a show that they like, but maybe are no longer watching, before they get to Mullan.

This is why I am a little bit more confident in Woodard. The Z-A ballot benefits her the most in a weak category. I also had to swallow my pride and take out former winner Maslany for Evan Rachel Wood, because she’s last on the ballot.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Diana Rigg is 100% winning this, she can already get her speech ready (though I doubt she will be there 🙁 )</p>

Although she was reportedly also submitted for Scandal, Kate Burton is only on the ballot for This is Us, so she is back in my predictions.  Given that she had been nominated for Scandal before and it is its final season, I figured that it would just enough votes as happened to Cicely Tyson two years ago.  Anyway, she has been nominated for multiple roles fairly recently, so we know that they like her.  Like similarly-respected Denis O’Hare, she was underused in her recurring role as a foil to the supporting actor nominee from the show.

Based on episode (and my bias aside), Cicely Tyson would win this. I just rewatched her episode and my God, she was outstanding. She checked every single box that voters love and she already appears for the first time after 6 minutes and the entire episode is about her character and her relationship with her daughter Annalise (Viola Davis). You feel really bad for her and I was very sad after watching the episode. This is also probably the most grounded episode of HTGAWM (excluding the final 2 minutes, lol). That could help as well. I just hope she gets that nomination. And I still wish episodes actually mattered across the board.

Diana Rigg, Jodi Balfour and even though I pretty much hate her show, Cicely Tyson are my favorites in this category. 100% waiting for Dame Diana Rigg to pick up her first trophy as The Queen of Thorns, Lady Olenna of House Tyrell.

If Emmy God Alda can’t make the cut, The Good Fight will never earn a major nomination.

THE OSCAR 100 (#55-51): Kim Stanley, Teri Garr, Susan Tyrrell, Patricia Neal and Meryl Streep
